Replaced my ****** mount... Still got something thumping around underneath. Will have to rig a camera to troubleshoot further.
Did a lot of work on the wife's ZJ. Exhaust work - I now have only one non-welded joint in the entire exhaust. No more of this crap with the muffler torquing due to the tailpipe weight. So no muffler kicking the floorboard or tapping the suspension bolts...

After that we found a ticking sound from the rear axle - sounding just like a ratcheting locker... But I haven't installed one in this axle. Turns out it's the passenger side axle shaft.... So I've put $350 of axle shafts in the pig of an axle in the last 2 months. Need to expedite the D44a axle I have to install in its place.. I will have to change from a Disk/drum to a disk/disk MC, and while we are at it might as well do the brake booster as well. While we are at all this, doing an ABS delete, as the old 90s-tech ABS hasn't been working in years, and can't be repaired (module and the dealer computer to properly bleed it are no longer available). Fortunately, the wife knows how to drive, and my son has a high-end fitting tool so we can make our own lines.

Really tempted to do hydro boost brakes while we are at this.....
I’m interested in this idea
I’ve been kicking this around myself
I have an 06 that I was wanting to remove all the traction control and abs and go to a basic master cylinder proportioning valve setup.

why does the transmission have an extra connector on the driver's side of the transmission?

ok, so i'm seeing comments elsewhere that, I can just ignore the VLP connector, and the trans should work fine.
god I hope so.

So glad the VLP transmission is backwards compatible for you. It wouldn't work the other way around (non-VLP in my 2008 for example). I have a pre-owned VLP unit sitting in my garage waiting for the day my original unit decides it's through. 233,000 miles currently. How many miles are on yours?

dead trans has 140k. VLP trans came out of a 174k vehicle, so maybe it's that used? it worked great on the drive back from storage, and I sent a sample of fluid off to blackstone-labs to get a reading on the internals. it didn't look great, but unlike the 140k trans, it didn't smell bad and it still had a slight red tint to it. 140k smelled burnt and was dark brown; no red to it at all any longer.

Okay some good news. After clearing the codes because I'm an idiot and didn't make sure one of the connectors was clicked in all the way, I recycled the power on the Jeep and it comes up with no error codes in either the ECU or the tcu. Yes I know, it's the same damn module, but it split internally for diagnostics. There is however some kind of crazy ass problem with the BCM that doesn't actually throw a diagnostic code but comes up as a default, but I'm really not going to care about that till I get the whole thing put back together again and driving. Oh, it also is ******** about all four oxygen sensors. That would make sense considering there's no exhaust on the Jeep currently!

Okay everything is put back on it. The only thing I have to do now is pull the transmission pan and put a new filter in the thing before I fill it up with fluid.

I been calling shops about doing my timing set, and can't really find anyone who will do it, they come off with, I could put a used motor in cheaper, or with the cost of that, you could buy a Jasper or PowerTrain with warranty. So I ask the room is it that much easier to do a whole motor than the timing setup?

This is on 2007 3.7
