I been calling shops about doing my timing set, and can't really find anyone who will do it, they come off with, I could put a used motor in cheaper, or with the cost of that, you could buy a Jasper or PowerTrain with warranty. So I ask the room is it that much easier to do a whole motor than the timing setup?

This is on 2007 3.7
NO, it is absolutely not easier to do the whole motor.
If you have something else to drive and are at all mechanically inclined, do it yourself.

How about 'what do I wish I'd done before today on my Jeep'.......

Heated seats. I even bought the hogrings and pliers. I really don't have a excuse for not having done it already....

This should be a great thread that we can keep going. That way we can all keep up with the small day to day tinkering and give some ideas to those looking to do something! Pics are strongly encouraged!!! (Cheers)
New water pump, thermostat, idler pulley, tensioner pulley and serpentine belt.

For clarity, the wife's Jeep is a 94 ZJ. I have been keeping an eye out for a Liberty or something newer for her. I was going to give her this 05 KJ when it was given to me, but it's a stick and I don't need to get divorced trying to teach a Midwestern, redhead, of Slavic descent, how to drive a stick...
stick? :D

Not today, but on Saturday I joined Jon from Dirt Road Therapy on a trail ride through the Bald Eagle State Forest in northern PA. It was a blast! Last week I got new tires on the Liberty so traction in the snow was as good as it gets. We aired down to about 15 pounds and it gave us enough flotation to run on forest roads that had been packed down by a snow cat. The forest roads are open in winter for dual travel by vehicles and snowmobiles, but they are not plowed or maintained for regular cars.

Jon’s diesel-swapped XJ has 37’s and Jason’s TJ has 35’s. Nice to be able to keep up on my 31’s. :p

massively off topic, but the PAFOA website/forum is going to go dark soon.

on topic:
so now that I have a spare set of rear axle and front diff, should I DTT or electric/air locker them? and why? Not interested in lunchbox style.
keep in mind they're currently 3.73 geared (and i'm on 3.55's right now), and I'd want parts/components that can transfer potentially to 4.10 gears.
I know that DTT is different between 3.55 and 3.73/4.10. Is the same true for electric or air lockers?

Well... don't think I'm likely to take that on. Looks very complicated.
IMO, it's more about all the little nuggets of data he kept noting. Measure this part to order the correct replacement, check to see if this other part needs new bits, etc.
If I knew I was going to do it more than a couple times, I'd learn how to do it right. Otherwise that exact shop isn't all that far from me, so they might get my business, if I choose to get this trans fixed.

ordered both front hubs, both front speed sensors, and an extra rear.
definitely need to replace the front left sensor, as it's broken. bought the rest as spares.

pivoting to the evap leak for the time being, otherwise i'm going to do something stupid.
