... and apparently I've lost/misplaced the pan magnet.
*sigh* I can't get ahead with this project.

no seriously, it's working. granted only forward and reverse about 5 dozen times. took I think about 8 quarts to get the level up. makes sense based on how much I took out.

not one of my jeeps. let's play a game: what do the lights really mean.
ABS/TRAC/ESP-BAS: at least 1 wheel speed sensor is not responding.
AIR BAG: clock spring is faulty.
CEL: bad cats and/or O2 sensors.

so now that i'm almost done with the khaki jeep, I need to figure out what to do about the silver one who's trans I stole.
thinking of bolting the broke trans back up to it, mostly so I can run the engine and diagnose it's #3 misfire, hopefully.
question is, should I leave the torque converter out? that way it's not trying to spin the shredded trans internals. who knows maybe some point in the future I'll take it apart and see if I can't rebuild it myself.

I wonder if it would run if you just put the exhaust back in?

drove it about 30ish miles. mix of city and a 10 minute run on the highway. had to do a trans relearn. still locking up the torque converter a little harsh, but I guess getting better.
overall it's going back to its owner on Monday.

Changed steering rack bushings today - that was more work than it should have been! Drivers side bushing did not want to come out - had to bust out the flaming wrench :p

Oh - and I pulled both heads off of a friends Tacoma today as well - she's burning a bit of coolant.

for want of an inch of movement, that rack bushing job could be done in 1/10th the time it takes.

I’m interested in this idea
I’ve been kicking this around myself
I have an 06 that I was wanting to remove all the traction control and abs and go to a basic master cylinder proportioning valve setup.
For clarity, the wife's Jeep is a 94 ZJ. I have been keeping an eye out for a Liberty or something newer for her. I was going to give her this 05 KJ when it was given to me, but it's a stick and I don't need to get divorced trying to teach a Midwestern, redhead, of Slavic descent, how to drive a stick...

done taking **** out.
tomorrow I put **** back in.
broke down and bought a HF trans jack. trying to lift the trans back in place with regular jacks is sketchy. down was bad enough.
FYI, ratchet straps make ****** R&R *much* easier. One fore, one aft, use them to slowly lift/lower each end as needed.
