That was way more of a pain to get out then it should have been. Broke two bolts holding the transfer case cross member in. Had to remove the four bolts that hold the transfer case to the bracket that bolt to the cross member, as the 4 bolts underneath were so totally rusted out they were never coming off. Taking about an hour break, and then it's transmission out time.

transmission is finally out.
took 4 hours today to remove 4 bolts, 2 transmission lines (one of which broke in the fitting on the transmission), and trying to get my air hammer up in there to pound on the dowel pins to free them.

also when they tell you to drain the transmission first... DO IT.
now I need another massive bag of kitty litter.

Hoping that you are "presoaking" any bolts and fittings that you need to remove with PB Blaster or your personal favorite penetrant several times.

Of course, Im sure that you already know to incrementally loosen, then tighten, then loosen. then tighten, then loosen, etc ad nauseum while removing any corroded bolts and fittings helps to minimize the chance of breaking them.

AND!
An unintended test of the Vredestein Pinza AT in the snow/slush/ice.

Granted we only got 1"-2" of wet melty slushy snow, so nothing killer. Some of the roads though have some ice on them. For an AT all season tire, they did quite well. Only had the plow on the front. Didn't load up the 500# of ballast I usually carry in the boot. I tossed the studded snows on tonight, also sans ballast, for another 2"-4" snow storm tomorrow.

Moved the washer bottle a few days ago. I could not get it to sit right no matter what I moved. Decided to give it the snippy snips and bonded it with the JB weld I was already using.

and now I have 2 wheel speed sensors out.
left front is a stored code.
right rear went active on the drive today.
which means, no cruise control.
guess I'm fixing them tomorrow.

Grrr I’m also still dealing with a plugged sunroof drain right now despite having blown out both front drains the other day and running a dehumidifier for a couple days to dry everything out. Now its wet again with the storm and Im not sure why!!!
Where IS the drain, so I can get ahead of this and rod it out?

Perfect excuse/opportunity to upgrade to JIC fitting adapters, and - 6JIC hose (what you'd normally see in a lift truck or other fluid power systems).
Had the same problem in my 89 S10. They wanted $180 for a new set of hard lines. I replace the fittings with adapters and the hard line with hose (as above), running the hoses on top of the frame rail... For about $80. Problem solved, problem staying solved.
Bonus - this solution will NEVER have issues with work hardening, and is rated at something like 3000PSI burst pressure... And the system runs at like 50psi.

If you do this, I recommend you go through discounthydraulichoses.com. I am unaffiliated with them, just a very happy customer. Make sure you spec out for the proper class of fluid. PM me if you need help.

OK, so... Been busy the last month or so. I was out of work for a week and a half in late November due to the whole shutdown thing. (yes it ended EARLY November, but the backlog got our funding)....

I want to add heated seats to the front. Have the kit here. Has anyone removed the upholstery on the front seats? I'm wondering if I need hog ring pliers or not before I yank the seat out...

I got sick of the DSPO's seat covers and ripped them out. Bought a set of covers (name escapes me... A well-known workwear brand, not Dickeys... Highly recommended on this site) and a MOLLE back piece I will install on each so I can have a IFAK, eyes/ears, and similar kit easily kept all together... Will install them while the seat is out.

Roll back the sunroof completely, and then undo the 2 small leashes that hold the popup sunroof wind deflector up and then fold the deflector back towards the rear. With a light, look into the VERY front corner on each side, and you will see a SMALL (<1/4") OVAL hole, split by a small, curved metal "gutter" that direct any water into the drain hole. Since the hole is recessed and oval, it is VERY difficult to get a rubber tipped air gun in there to seal well, but with a long rubber tipped extension, it can be done. The hose drains out through the wheel well behind some wiring on the DS, and underneath the glove box on the PS.

If necessary, and with some minor panel removals, and major arm contortions, you can pull the tube out from the body grommet on each side under the dash and blow air back up towards the sunroof and then out everything back together. It SHOULD be simpler to blow DOWN through the corner holes…you can hear the air rushing out by the wheel wells.

I found a link to a pic that shows the tube under the dash…I will try to post it back here.

But there is still a concise YT video that shows a guy actually trying to solve the and discovering where the DS drain exits through the wheel well, behind the vanity panels and some wiring.

I'll keep trying to find it for you.
