Yeah.... 1000+ of it was city miles...

Yup, pretty sad Digger!
Regardless of what vehicle you own though?
There are sh!tty parts available for all makes and models that some swear by (and probably never really have used to the parts fullest (alleged) usage!
{More likely bragging rights!})
But we learn from others misfortunes unfortunately!

TBJ why do you speak about yourself in 3rd person all the time? just curious lol

Stay away from the aussie or any luchbo locker, think they pulled the 8.25 aussie off the market due to they messed up the design pretty bad..

Due yourself a favor and invest in a real locker like the Detroit or ARB.

The XD58229 has never been recalled contrary to statements made here. What did happen was that in the "First" test installation on the bench in our engineering labs in the USA it was found that the axle supplied by a vendor for the purpose of making an axle spline broach was not OE as they had stated but was their own specification. Their axle had a slightly different ramp angle so while we got a couple of axles to fit, we found that we needed to obtain a new broach with the OE axle specifications to ensure that we would fit "all" axles. We delayed full production of the XD58229 until a new broach was made by our broach supplier and then did another test and full manufacturing run. At no time was a locker that had the pre-production axle splines sold to a customer. These were in-house tests conducted by our engineers. Our error (if there was one) was being honest with our customers as to why were having a delay in the production run and availability to purchase. We have noted that this story seems to get legs by those who advocate other locker types and manufacturers and the incorrect information is used to discredit a product that has an enviable quality and performance record. It is like a comment that "the locker broke". We have never seen a "broken" Aussie Locker (where the axle or cam gears or spacers are physically broken in pieces). We have seen damage to our lockers due to improper installation and other items on the vehicle breaking e.g. axles, hubs, cross shafts and ring gears. If anyone has a "broken" Aussie Locker not caused by installation or other environmental issues they should contact us at once for a full replacement. We have the only warranty that does not have a limit on tire size or engine horsepower, and that is a testament to our confidence in the ability of the Aussie Locker to handle whatever you want to throw at it.

Interesting to note that this locker has never been returned to Aussie Locker for engineering evaluation (according to our records) to determine the cause of the problem. Our warranty like most others requires that an RMA be obtained and the locker returned to us for technical review. If we find that the damage was caused by any problem other than what is covered under the warranty (defect in material or workmanship), we send the locker to an independent locker consultant (inventor of the Lock Right) for his evaluation and recommendation. What ever he finds is what we advise the customer and hopefully work out a resolution to the problem if the issue turns out to be a non-warranty issue. If any customer has any documents of where we arbitrarily rejected their warranty claim we would want to see it and they should feel free to publish this document here for all to see. If a customer installs a product wrong, or has other issues such as (for example) a bent axle, bent axle tube, etc. then those are not covered under the warranty or any warranty of a locker manufacturer, but we try to work with them.

Well that's reassuring to somebody that currently has one that's still under warranty. Why don't you buy it back so ThunderbirdJunkie can get Detroit in there?

Since when is $200 a full refund for a locker that costs $320 shipped?

AussieLocker, are you guys incapable of simple grade school arithmetic?

How you handle this will make or break you. News in the wheeling world spreads quick.

Since you've admitted in this thread that the first batch was defective, ThunderbirdJunkie purchased his about this time last year, what do you plan to do for the people who have been having drivability issues since day 1?

Replied to PM from Aussie.

I will advise as to actions later.

However it looks like they will be making good and honoring their warranty................

^^....Digger, if they don't honor their warrenty, I know that KJ and other Jeep owners on here and on LOST will think twice before getting one knowing if they have a problem they will be SOL. Most of us are members of both forums as well as JeepForum and others and Lockers are one of the most discussed topics on these boards.

You do now that there are 3 different axles for the 29-spline 8.25 in a KJ/KK right? And no they are not the same and are not interchangeable.

Learning this makes ThunderbirdJunkie worry about the repercussions of potential future warranty claims and makes him wonder what they'll do if said locker explodes and destroys not only the carrier, but the housing, too.

Since you've admitted in this thread that the first batch was defective, ThunderbirdJunkie purchased his about this time last year, what do you plan to do for the people who have been having drivability issues since day 1?

The understanding that the customer had was that he would receive $ 200 in cash (refund) AND a new locker. Total value of $ 520 (using the $ 320 shipped number). The problem was that the $ 200 refund was promptly issued and since also supplying a new locker was not properly documented the replacement was not sent. That issue is being rectified and while not something we like to see happen in our operation, it did happen and we have stepped up and taken full responsibility.

No we did not admit the first "batch" was defective. What we said was that the first "pre-production model" (4 units) was built to fit one set of axle splines and we did not introduce them to the market, or sell them or give them away. We told our customers the truth (when like others we could have just said we had production issues) and we obtained a new broach that fits all 29 spline Chrysler 8.25. Only after completing test installations on a number of Chrysler 8.25 diffs did we release the model for purchase by customers.

We sell many thousands of lockers each year and out of those to have one error like this is something that we never like to see. But we have people employed and when you have people in the process you have opportunities for errors to creep in now and then.

We have taken full responsibility for this problem that happened in our exchange of communications with this customer and his agreement with us is being honored 100%.

The XD58229 .

I edited, cause we don't need to read this again and again!

Anyway...

I tend to believe my fellow KJ Country member that YOU, AUSSIELOCKER did absolutely F A about his problem with
your product!
I've been in retail for 20+ years and I KNOW JUST HOW
Manufactures work!
It is always a pre written document to cover your A$$!

That is how it is!

Been there done that...

Remember here buddy...

NO MATTER WHAT!
THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT!
IF THE CUSTOMER IS WRONG...
IT IS YOUR FAULT FOR MISS INFORMING THE CUSTOMER!
I'VE SEEN THE PICTURES...

Like I said, I've been in retail for a long long time and had to put up with
manufactures BS on a daily basis.
To a point where I have dropped a complete product line because the bloke on the other end of the line or in person at a trade show has told me a total line of crap!

Have a good day!

Ry'
