Free weilding 4WD handle

Hi! I have a 2004 Jeep Liberty. Got some snow last night and shifted into 4Hi. I was still skidding around so I shifted to 4Lo but I was stopped at a light at the time. Now the handle is loose and free weilding. How do I fix it? Help, please

Refer to your owners manual.
On my command Trac- I shift Transmission into neutral rolling slowly forward, then into 4 Low, then back into drive (auto trans) is the normal procedure....
I don't know what is broken now...but check shifter bushing?

but did you say 4 low on the road ??
Never used 4 low anywhere but when way off road in extreme circumstances

Ya 4 low is 4 slow only.
Good AT tires in winter as well.
