Tapping 4 holes for my 3,000# hitch was awful. 2 more to go unless I get a notice...

Yes there is nothing free anymore. But this is a train we can't stop. The only thing we can do is hop on or stay off. And staying off just makes me pay for it in the long run, but not get it...

That's pretty much how I feel about it. I'm going to be paying for it in the long run whether I get it or not so I might as well get it.

Sent from my HTC One using the power of Mary's purse

Got the recall notice in the mail today. It says "the parts are not available yet and I will be notified when they are in".

Thinking of going in when I get the "second notice" just to let them look at mine and tell me I already have an OEM hitch and gas tank skid so they are not going to do anything but clear the recall notice. That way I won't have an "open recall"

If that is the case I guess I can look forward to a notice also. Seems they would know if it came on your rig.

Were yours factory installed or added after the fact?

My hitch is OEM from the factory (OEM tow package). The skid I added afterwards.

If I remember correctly, factory two packages aren't exempt from the recall because they still want to inspect that the hitch is still in good shape and not rusted away etc..

Thanks to you and Dave both for the response.

Will keep and eye open for the notice.

mine already has a hitch on it, but I'm thinking of taking it off and letting them replace it with a new one. I'll either sell the old one *snicker* or use it for other purposes.

Mine has a "universal hitch" I wonder if they will take it....just flip the brackets out and fits my buddys ranger.

It looks like they still plan to do what they have offered thus far. This seems more like a semantic difference between a formal recall and ______________ (whatever you want to call what they are actually doing.)

Hopefully someone along the line came to their friggin' senses and said this is ridiculous, will let it drop completely and go silently into the night:happy160:

Or a 1994 Toyota Paseo and a six pack of Coors.

Man I haven't had a Coors for years now. Back in the late 70s before Coors could be sold in Ohio I'd come back from vacation and the motorhome would be loaded down with cases of the stuff! Everyone wanted it , until it became legal here :laughing1:
