Ok, so my front passenger window is stuck in the up position. I thought it was the motor and purchased a new one. But before installing the new one I decided to test it outside of the door. Well when I plugged the new motor and hit the switch nothing happened, just like nothing happens with the old motor.

So, I used my multi-meter to test power at the plug and i'm only getting 11.12 volts instead of the nescessary 12. To confirm that this was my problem I tried the new window motor on the driver door and it worked.

My question is what would cause the power to the plug for my front passanger window motor to drop voltage from 12 to 11.12.

thanks for the help in advance...

Location
just south of doucheville
the drop of only .88 volts would not make the motor not work
there is another issue
when you test the voltage it the motor plugged in?
having volts is not the same as suppling power ,amps
you can supply 600 volts through a 16 awg wire but maybe .1 amp
if you have any corrosion on the switch or connectors that could be the problem
you can supply volts but only a very limited amount of current

recheck the voltage but with the motor plugged in
as close to the motor as you can
then check it as close to the switch as you can
if there is a big drop in voltage at the motor but not the switch the corrosion is the issue
if there is no other drop and it holds the 11 volts I would be very surprised

Thanks for the responses

J-Thompson --> I'm gonna try what you said and measure the voltage at the switch and at the motor with it plugged in...but, what I forgot to mention in my first post is I also checked the voltage of the window plug in the driver door and that measured 12.1V that's when I plugged in the new motor I purchased to try it, and it worked.

tjkj2002 & kb0nly --> I will try looking at the switch itself too....is the switch going bad a common problem on the KJ's?

and if you have any other suggestions on what it might be..please let me know...I don't want to have to take it to the stealership
