Dad says his Liberty feels like its front driveline is always engaged, and he also said it is making some noise in the front driveline.

the liberty does not use locking hubs. the front driveline is always moving even in 2wd. there are a lot of potential causes for noise in the front driveline. the easiest thing to check is the front driveshaft cv joints, (check boots for tears or holes).

There are no hubs to engauge or even turn off.

If it feels like its binding ensure your actually in 2WD. the Transfer case indicator light sometimes goes out.

After that crawl underneath and check rubber boot on transfercase side of front driveshaft. If cracked replace.

Check back if those are good.
