Tailgate doesn't unlock.

When we move the lock switch on the drivers door to unlock the door (no FOBs for the Jeep), it doesn't make any sound in the tailgate, like the unlocking mechanism isn't working.

When we move the lock switch to lock the door, it does sound like the door is being locked, so the tailgate is getting power. Didn't check, but can't image there are 2 fuses for the tailgate.

Any idea what the issue could be?

Thinking something with the Trunk-lock Actuator has failed , that is what Rockauto is calling the part.

I plan to climb into the back tomorrow and pop off that access panel on the tailgate and take a look in there but any suggestions would be appreciated!

There's a micro switch in there that is known to poop out. There are already some videos out there on the googlewebs.

Well that's something I've learned, didn't even know you could open it without the fob.
