dedicated snows are somewhat thing of the past in more metro suburban areas. they plow so damn much and salt the roads like you're driving on pure cocaine. combined with the impressive advancements in all season tires and unless you live someplace where they don't plow all winter, full on snow tires just aren't needed. I have 'em because like I said, I plow which means i'm out in the absolute worst of it.

boomerang is replaced. what a cluster.
pulled the rear driveshaft. trying to get the u-joints out. they are SEIZED in hard.
might have to call around to a couple shops and see if anyone can just disassemble them for me.
if not, I get to buy an expensive rear driveshaft.

not yet, that's my next step.
also going to measure it and see what it'll cost to replace it, just in case.
I'm supposed to be picking up some stuff in the next couple of days, and this is really putting a cramp in that.

Make sure whatever dl shop you use has the proper “fixture” for the front slip yoke od. Mine didn’t (and it’s been around for 50 years) and had to make something work on a lathe mount. Ymmv

I changed to studless winter tires.
When new, their hardness is said to be 45-55A.
Because there are many sipes, the blocks have low rigidity and are extremely soft.
Since it's all about softness, it can only be used for about 3-4 seasons.

What brand and size are those puppies, I ran some blizzacks, and I loved them since I was only driving the jeep minimal in summer I left them on, but when front end parts went they started to wear uneven UG. Those look sweet. Also what steelies do you have on there.

I had to use heat to pull the OEM ujoints on my 2005 Dodge truck,
In that case it was because the OEM balljoints used some sort of glue that held each cap in place instead of a circlip…or maybe it was in addition to a circlip…I cant remember exactly now  but there was definitely glue that I had to melt first.

*********.
every single document I can find says, the front and rear u-joints are the same.
EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
so why the **** does mine have a 3.875" front yolk and a 3.5" rear yolk?!?!?!?
needless to say, Napa is getting me the SMALLER u-joint (at 2x the price I paid @ RA) tomorrow, as no one stocks it any longer.
shop I took it to got it apart successfully at least, so as soon as I bring them the right joint tomorrow morning, it'll be done and I can put it back in, but jesus why is everything so stupid like this?

Thank you.
The tires are Dunlop Grandtrek SJ6.
31x10.5R15.
The wheels are steel wheels called Daytona in Japan.
Daytona wheels for summer tires are made in the USA, but those for winter tires are made in China.
Blizzak is said to be the least slippery tire in Japan.

Today I did some maintenance on Quackers my daughter’s 2009 KK Rocky Mountain edition. I added 505 CRO to the oil and drove it around for 15 mins then changed the oil and filter. This the second 505 CRO treatment I have done. I also added a bottle of the 605 CRF Fuel treatment to a full tank of gas. This is my fourth 505 CRF treatment. Today I noticed the heater temperature felt a bit low. It was 13 F outside today and I suspect the heater core needs another flush. My daughter gave me 30 mins to work on the heater as she was headin to work. So I swapped the heater hoses and the heat became nice and hot again. I’ll let her drive around like that for a couple of days then do another heater core flush.

iPlowed. now I gotta tear it all apart and put it back into iTow configuration tomorrow, for a Wednesday trip. Looking at at least 12 hours of driving round trip, not including two stops to pick up "stuff".

Also wish I could find some "cheaper" auto insurance, one that'll let me turn off the costs (nearly) completely when the rig in question isn't on the road. I'd go buy another $500 liberty and move the plow gear to it permanently.

Some insurance companies, at least here in Ohio, let you put a vehicle in comprehensive only, like for storage. The comp covers theft, but can't be driven off this lower cost insurance. I do this depending on which car is parked for any duration. They don't like you to flip flop so it has to be for short term like quarterly, etc. Put your main one in "storage" and drive the plow vehicle. I can't imagine you wouldn't be able to do this in NJ, but insurance is a fickle thing from state to state. I also made sure vehicle was plated etc, when I did this. My brother has done similar here as he has a car he doesn't drive in the winter at all. One other thing I did, since I got unemployed, and got my current gig with an ending date that lets me work from home is have them lower the mileage I drive the vehicles per year and not lock in the 12500-15k standard it doesn't save a ton but does save some. They want a service record copy, so like for my Jeep, I gave them something from the auto shop months apart and you could see the mileage driven was low between the months, same with the Honda.
