Gutted my interior after finding 2.5” of water under the carpet from my leaking sunroof after the jeep was parked for 6 months. The carpets and seats were absolutely nasty but hey, no rust!

Grrr I’m also still dealing with a plugged sunroof drain right now despite having blown out both front drains the other day and running a dehumidifier for a couple days to dry everything out. Now its wet again with the storm and Im not sure why!!!

At least it gives you the chance to shampoo the carpets really well.;)
It’s beyond shampoo. Previous owners had dogs that vomited and went to the bathroom in the car so I’m just replacing the whole interior. Everything smells awful and the carpets are rotting and moldy.

I ordered that new seat belt buckle about a month ago, now. Since then, the original has started functioning properly again. No more sticky button.

However, a new problem reared its ugly head today: transfer case noise while 4 hi is engaged. Kind of an intermittent grinding. It’s the 241 case. I haven’t been able to get eyes on anything yet.

Bad CV joint on the front driveshaft on the t-case end. Typical. The dang thing only lasted 90k miles :D

I've been fighting with the transfer case shift lever on my 2002 Limited. I found that the bushing at the t-case end was missing, so I replaced that, but, apparently, while things were sloppy and not functioning properly, I got a little over zealous and applied too much force to the lever, attempting to get it out of 4-Lo, and put a kink in the internal cable. Now the lever won't even go all the way down, for 2WD.
I was able to manually move/shift the lever on the t-case to get it into 2WD. I then did my best to straighten the cable, at the shifter end, but as soon as I reinstalled it and tried pushing it from 4-Hi to 2WD, it jammed again. :(

Does anybody sell a replacement transfer case shifter assembly?? I'm going to check local junk yards, but it's a bit nippy out right now and I'd rather not go crawling around in the cold dirt for a used part of unknown condition.

This a 2002, with Transfer Case NV231, so I'm wondering if there's any difference in the cable for KJs that have NV242. ?

I think the simple answer to my question is yes-ish. I believe the 242 is for the Selec-Trac version of the t-case that has a full-time 4WD option, adding one step in the lever and cable extension -- thus making it incompatible.(?)
My local jeep junker just told me he has an assembly from a 2006, with the 231, available, but apparently the interior mounts are slightly different (after the 2005 interior refresh).?? :(

I have a parts jeep here with the 242J in it, and the throw on the lever doesn't seem any different than in either mine (241) or the one I sold (231).

you need a cat. :D

seriously though, i've been using little bags containing https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005VZYCQC for a couple years now. seems to work as I have vehicles that are outside for long periods of time, and no more nests in them.
I also sprinkle it on the ground under and around where the vehicle(s) sit, to help deter infestation.

I sprinkled peppermint oil all under the rear seat. Hopefully that will work. It sure helps with the mouse smell, anyways.

Since I hate using poisons, due to the downstream effect", I have found that the most effective solution for rodents, well other then keeping domestic or feral cats, is putting a bright LED light under the truck, and also either popping the hood (when its in the garage) or putting another magnetic LED light under the hood when its parked outside.

Mice really dont like brightly lit or otherwise exposed spaces.

I just use battery powered LED area lights, but depending how often you drive, Im sure it would be easy enough to hook one up to the vehicle's battery.
