Gutted my interior after finding 2.5” of water under the carpet from my leaking sunroof after the jeep was parked for 6 months. The carpets and seats were absolutely nasty but hey, no rust!

At least it gives you the chance to shampoo the carpets really well.Gutted my interior after finding 2.5” of water under the carpet from my leaking sunroof after the jeep was parked for 6 months. The carpets and seats were absolutely nasty but hey, no rust!
It’s beyond shampoo. Previous owners had dogs that vomited and went to the bathroom in the car so I’m just replacing the whole interior. Everything smells awful and the carpets are rotting and moldy. At least it gives you the chance to shampoo the carpets really well.![]()
That's probably a good idea! It’s beyond shampoo. Previous owners had dogs that vomited and went to the bathroom in the car so I’m just replacing the whole interior. Everything smells awful and the carpets are rotting and moldy.

Bad CV joint on the front driveshaft on the t-case end. Typical. The dang thing only lasted 90k milesHowever, a new problem reared its ugly head today: transfer case noise while 4 hi is engaged. Kind of an intermittent grinding. It’s the 241 case. I haven’t been able to get eyes on anything yet.
This a 2002, with Transfer Case NV231, so I'm wondering if there's any difference in the cable for KJs that have NV242. ?I've been fighting with the transfer case shift lever on my 2002 Limited. I found that the bushing at the t-case end was missing, so I replaced that, but, apparently, while things were sloppy and not functioning properly, I got a little over zealous and applied too much force to the lever, attempting to get it out of 4-Lo, and put a kink in the internal cable. Now the lever won't even go all the way down, for 2WD.
I was able to manually move/shift the lever on the t-case to get it into 2WD. I then did my best to straighten the cable, at the shifter end, but as soon as I reinstalled it and tried pushing it from 4-Hi to 2WD, it jammed again.
Does anybody sell a replacement transfer case shifter assembly?? I'm going to check local junk yards, but it's a bit nippy out right now and I'd rather not go crawling around in the cold dirt for a used part of unknown condition.

I think the simple answer to my question is yes-ish. I believe the 242 is for the Selec-Trac version of the t-case that has a full-time 4WD option, adding one step in the lever and cable extension -- thus making it incompatible.(?)This a 2002, with Transfer Case NV231, so I'm wondering if there's any difference in the cable for KJs that have NV242. ?
I would send a PM if I could figure out how to. Anyway, I too live in Colorado Springs. I'm wondering who's your local Jeep junker? My local jeep junker
I have a parts jeep here with the 242J in it, and the throw on the lever doesn't seem any different than in either mine (241) or the one I sold (231).I think the simple answer to my question is yes-ish. My local jeep junker just told me he has an assembly from a 2006, with the 231, available, but apparently the interior mounts are slightly different (after the 2005 interior refresh).??![]()
I sprinkled peppermint oil all under the rear seat. Hopefully that will work. It sure helps with the mouse smell, anyways.you need a cat.
seriously though, i've been using little bags containing https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005VZYCQC for a couple years now. seems to work as I have vehicles that are outside for long periods of time, and no more nests in them.
I also sprinkle it on the ground under and around where the vehicle(s) sit, to help deter infestation.
