so I still have a wandering problem, even after installing the rack bushings.
Only suspension bits that haven't been replaced are the rack itself and the rear lower arms.
Hoping to do the latter soon, but I want to urethane fill the bushings first.
Also has anyone ever tried to slot the body side mount holes to allow some adjustment in the arms, and a source for camber washers
Was thinking of making something that would give the arms a little movement ability, to adjust the thrust angle if needed.

Everything else has been changed/touched:
front upper JBA arms
all recent lower bits
inner and outer tie rods have been done in the last 30k.

I'm really at a loss as to what would cause this thing to have any play at all and to want to wander like it does.

oh and it's done it since I took possession of it back in 2010 with 26k on the clock (now ~109k), through 5 different sets of tires as well, across sizes 225/75R16, 235/70R16, 245/70R16, and 245/75R16, brands of goodyear, michelin, yokohama, general, and vredestein. alignment shops can't find anything wrong either.
Have you aligned it since replacing rhe bushings? There's your problem.

Have the mevo tech supreme - replaced it 2xs in 5 years. The bushings give out on the lifted kj. Honestly the rear uca is a big enough pain that it’s worth the hassle buying iron rocks.
Yeah. What he said. I'm in the same boat. Buy once, cry once.

Was on furlough last week. Fortunately I had enough leave to cover.
Didn't go anywhere in the jeep all week... Until Sunday morning about 0300. My babygirl, Abby (4 year old Aussie pup) got into some leftovers and, being epileptic, began having constant seizures.
She never recovered and I had her put down at 0445. It's been a rough few days. I bring her cremains home tomorrow....

Dammit, that's a GOOD deal, but got too much to R&R on the front end of the Dodge truck right now to pull the trigger on that … I'll keep it in mind for next year though.

When I got my alignment back in 2008 when I bought my 2007, I paid then a high price of $119 for a life time alignment at Firestone Autocare, so I can get it in to get checked anytime, and do often when I change parts. When ever I change parts I wait a week or two the let the vehicle settle a bit. Probably take it soon, but not driving it much so may wait till spring to do a new check, if I start driving it more Ill take it in. I think now that lifetime is like over $200, i got my money out of that deal, and still am.

I get the lifetime on all the vehicles I keep. So far, that's 4.

Question for those you got Iron Rock upper control arms. (that is good deal if I hadn't just replaced mine I would get it). When it comes to the joint "Choose Rubber Bushing or Flex Joint at Chassis" what is everyone's comments or pro's con's on that flex joint setup. Does everyone get that, or the rubber bushing?

My understanding is that the Flex joint is more durable, particularly in lifted installations, but it will aslo transmit more vibration to the chassis then the rubber bushing will.

I bought the rubber but yet to install it.
I too was on the fence about which to buy.
Figured if I didn’t like it I could always get the other.

the flex joint is a heim joint style.
good points: it's greasable, probably rebuildable, has better flexibility if you're articulating.
bad points: it's going to need that maintenance as it's open to the elements in a place where it'll definitely get dirty when off-roading, and yes it'll transfer more noise/vibration/harshness.

the rubber bushing is just that: rubber. it'll do what rubber does. so pretty much opposite of the heim joint.
if I were lifting and off-roading a lot, I'd go with the heim. if you're on the streets most of the time, I'd go rubber.
other thing about the rubber, I bet you could remove it and install a solid urethane bushing in its place if you wanted to split the difference more in the future.

as a point of reference, I have a set of control arms in the neon that replace the vertical rubber bushings with heim joints. They have to come out every other year or so and get torn down and rebuilt, and the car only sees about 4k miles a year roughly (toy.) Although this latest rebuild I found some rubber boots that are the right size so I'm hoping to cover both sides of the heim and pack it with grease. They do exactly what they should: much more accurate/responsive/feed-back steering feel, at the cost of some harshness.

Thank you. I lost my last Aussie, Kylie (red tri, Abby was a black tri with bright blue eyes), on 8 Jan 2021 at 17 years. I thought I'd have so much more time with this little girl. It's been rough

I have learned to get rubber at the chassis whenever possible if I'm going to daily a vehicle. Poly/solids (to include aerospace heims and the like) is going to transmit a hell of a lot of NVH into the cabin.

Or you could pour or print some bushings along the same way. I bet you CAN find poly bushes that will fit, but if not there are other options.

100% agree. The extra articulation available (10%???) in the flex joint just doesn’t seem worth the noise. I called and talked with iron rock directly, they confirmed that streetish 4wd should use rubber. Should last 50k and they sell replacements.
