Do I HAVE to "pound" the pinch weld? Would it hurt anything to cut the plastic to get to where I can see the pinch weld then completely hack the pinch weld off to where it is flush with the rest of the fender well with a sawz-all or even a hack saw?

You would cut a flap in the well, then you'd get you mallet and pound it flat to the side, then melt the flap you cut out with the rest of the well. :)

That pinch weld is a structural component....I think I would just pound it over and be done with it. If you start cutting sheet metal there, you would really want to weld up the gash you create.

Whats the difference in bending it over to one side and just cutting it where the bend would normally be? The bend doesn't provide and structural strength.

It would be better to bend it over rather than cutting the pinch weld. If you cut that off, which you will have to do to fit a bigger tire, then you compromise the strength in that area. That's why it is welded, for strength.;)

The pinch weld is where some of the body panels come together and are welded. Since they are already welded then bending them over could actually make them stronger.

Dont cut them off.
