I'd really like to disable the interior lights when we are camping because I am paranoid the battery will go flat when we are opening and closing the Jeep.

Is there a fuse that you can pull? I had a look and came up with zip.

Yup what ^ said.

Turn the dimmer switch toward you until it sorta goes over a bump, the interior lights should now be off even with doors open.

When I first bought my jeep & camping I was worried about interior lights on too.
That was mainly because the stock battery was only 630CCA. It was not long before I replaced it with a 800 CCA + battery.
If your battery is any good you should not have to worry about minimal drains like interior lights & load test the battery before u leave.
I have a tester at home that I can now do a good test with that i picked up on sale at Can Tire...
I invite the use of my interior lights on, and I have 4 puddle lights too etc.

To be absolutely certain and relieve the drain down anxiety when camping I also have a 600 amp AGM booster/inverter/tire inflator that comes camping with me.
Handy to say the least! If by chance yours or anyone else s battery wont start in the Am, reach for the booster & bingo jeep starts!

Camping should be fun with no worries...!
Let the power be with you!

Yes Led's are the way to go and can make the KJ interior picture perfect!
I used gold puddle led's front & white in rear. Also gold on B pillars.

Always try to find the largest CCA when replacing your battery.
Here is an group 78/84 850 CCA with removable caps. This has juice!
With trickle charging frequently while it sits overnight, I get 7 years from a battery no problem.
Note no corrosion on my terminals.

Once fully charged on each cell us a hydrometer, and, you can actually tell about the battery's state of charge and overall condition/readiness.
When the battery is down the specific gravity reading & scale will show u battery needs charging.I like my batteries off the scale!

Somewhere between being sane and insane!

Mine turn off after about 1 min.

Granted I have all LED's in my KJ's interior they are super oversized so still drawing a fair amount of juice. When I changed my KC HID's for 25w LED spots I had a memory saver hooked up to my KJ since I had to remove the battery to run wiring and remove the HID ballasts.I used this one--Save on E-Z RED MS4000 at ToolTopia.com-- and opened/closed my doors a hundred times over a 5 hour period and barely drained that memory saver.Took less then 15mins to bring back to a full charge state.

Point being the interior lights don't draw much.

Ya good point Troy & very interesting memory saver for sure!
With my portable power box it has a accessory socket, now I just need to find the right cable (OBD2 to cig lighter male).. for it.
I've been borrowing a friends at shop similar to yours, when I swap batteries or need to disconnect.
While camping though it is just not the interior lights that are sometimes on...
I leave the Kj stereo playing cd or music for many hours!
