No, the inside of the CV joint that is attached to the axle.

The CV's should still be OK at 130,000.0 KM.

Our's has 240600.0 ish KM and is still on the original factory installed CV joints.
When I machined down the inner ones just over 25 months ago, both inner and outer were still in excellent condition.

The inner CV. It would be closest to the axle not the diff, since the differential is the actual gears and such in the pumpkin.

Getting mixed up. Just say inner CV.

I had to whack the cv axle to seperate it from the intermediate shaft. sometimes they are stuck together pretty good. I was able to hold the whole thing up in one hand while I hit the cv assembly with a sledge hammer...watch it doesn't fall on your feet

You can see now why they rust. Its all wet in there. Honestly that doesn't look too bad. Mine was rusted really good and probably a quarter of each spline was eroded away from rusting.

Not sure what to tell you if the actual CV joints have no play in them.

It may be your wheel bearing.

I'll let the experts comment, but I think you need new C clips for the intermediate shaft. There should be one on each end of it in the groove.

Make sure you put a lot of grease in the CV where the intermediate shaft goes in. That will help preserve it and last longer.
