Hello, new guy here :)

I bought a Jeep Liberty 2006 (Lifted) few days ago and found a problem with the upper control arms.

The upper control arms are hitting the coil , the contact on the driver side is more severe than the passenger side and i believe the a-arms are JBAs.

Check the attached pictures for more insight on the problem.

Any idea on the solution?

Thanks a lot.

Man I see a lot of issues from the get go
BUT lets start at square one here
Measure from middle of the wheel to bottom of the flare in front and report back. Looks like its lifted too high but need to know to be sure
Second , ball joint is the wrong one since only two bolts holding it in.
Third is that sitting with full weight on the ground or was that jacked up with weight off of the chassis ?

OLD setup for sure with OME springs and rancho shocks like we used to use
Appears to have a larger than normal top plate also , possibly 3/8 inch plus a full 3/8 inch clevis
IF this picture is with weight off of the ground then it would hit that way since the area where the UCAs mount has been cut out so droop would be more allowing it to do so.
One reason I NEVER buy anothers lifted anything

BUT again need more info than what you gave us
and the UCAs are NOT the issue here

1) I will report back with the measurements.
2) Could it be the ball joints that is causing the contact?
3) The car is sitting on the ground with full weight.

The pictures are for the driver side. The passenger side contact is minimal but there will be coil contact on large bumps or driving off road.

1. Thanks
2. No ball joints are not the issue although theyare the wrong ones
3. Yes at full weight on ground we can tell lift is too much. You have to be in the 22.75-23 inch range at least
Drivers side is always going to be a bit worse , just due to the way KJs suspension is

That does look very high, judging by the CV angles.

Let's see those measurements. Hows the alignment?

Only 3/8 inch clevis it appears BUT look at the top, appears to be more than one or thicker top plate than what should of been used
People never learn !

Agreed.
That top plate looks like it's about a half inch thick from that angle. Definitely too much.

You have some very unhappy c.v. joints. I would definitely decrease the amount of lift. I think he has a half in clevis and a maybe half inch top plate.

Also looks like there's a pinch in the brake line just above the joint where the rubber line joins the steel line.

Don't drive it...

Has nobody else noticed that the ball joint is on wrong? It's supposed to be on top of the control arm, not below.

First thing I noticed right after the two bolt ball joint
Like I said there is a reason I never buy someone elses modified anything
( unless I know the builder well )
This thing ( NOT TO SCARE THE OP/ NEW OWNER AT ALL BUT...)
It has so many things that need addressed right away

and yes Bob noticed the bent / pinched brake line

*But too much lift
**ball joints are the wrong ones and mounted wrong
***bent/ pinched brake line
****I'd bet there is a real chance that they rear part of the UCA is also cracked now due to the constant banging against the spring ( rear part where the ball joint attaches )
and thats just from a series of 3 photos

Hmm can you contact the seller and see what kind of setup he put on front?

Btw, Mine sits at 22.5 with jba a-arm and arb bumper it doesnt have contact right now. Id have to flex pretty hard.

22.25-22.50 ( depending ) is the magical number
right in there they will all have some contact
Also depends on the JBA arms, some have a bit more girth through the area that hits.
I'd almost bet that one is over 23
