A loud noise comes on every time the driver's door lock is unlocked. From what I've read it appears to be the door lock latch/actuator that's causing it. Local dealers are asking $260 for the part (#55177043ai) so I've decided to take it apart this weekend just in case it's something that's fixable. From the pictures below you'll notice some of the teeth on the plastic gear (marked in red) have worn off so every time the medal gear from the motor engages and hits that area, it makes this screeching noise.
Any chance someone has replaced one of these before? If not, think it's even possible to pick one of these gears? I'm not optimistic at this point but thought I'd ask anyways. Thanks!
