I am looking for help regarding this blend door actuator frustration. The metal splines as seen from below it just spins around nonstop in one direction of cold and then the reverse direction for hot. it is my understanding from other research that it is supposed to have a stopping and starting point. Perhaps there are different designs of actuators for different years or car models. Here are some of my videos. I just got this used 2003 liberty 3.7 Sport that had no heat and previous owner had worked on. They had done a heater core flush. Not sure if they properly bled the coolant but i will be looking into that. The vehicle would only have slight heat coming out of dash if you had it on level 1. If you turned in up it would be cool air. They opened up most of dash but not that final piece to pull back so i am having a hard time trying to get to the actuator. I had found and corrected a few major vacuum leaks so fortunately now air is blowing not only from the default dash position. All positions work but the heat is not very hot just warm and the passenger side is warmer than driverside. Its an improvement but winter is cold in Maine so i would like it hotter in the vehicle... All the other actuators are pushing their rods when the controls are moved so i think this actuator is an issue since it just makes its whirring noise nonstop and spins its little gear. I was hoping to get it out of there tomorrow its that last screw in the rear that I can't release. maybe its missing a part? there is a square hole in the bottom of the spline one could stick something in. People talked about using a tool on there but i think it was for a different model or year...
