I’m new here and I hoping to receive some information about timing chain tensioner plates. I picked up the LT liberty was supposedly a bad head gasket. Come to find out. It was a little more to it so I purchased a engine that was supposed to be in compatible with my O2 come to find out it was out of a 09 model so I had to make necessary changes with the crank and timing sprocket so in the timing kit, I got it has two flat plates and if I remember correctly when I tore it down a few years back, I only had one timing tensioner with a plate. Can anyone out there helping me? If so, which tensioner has the plate the driver or passenger side and which would you call right and left the number one cylinder is on the driver side of the engine. Would that be classified left or right?

Hi, I am having problems with my 3.7. I did a lot of reading and found out that the click click from my engine is due to the plate behind the tensioner. Now you say which one, that is the easy answer. When you sit in the driver seat is where you refer to the right side ( passenger side ) or left side ( driver side ). So as per the you-tube, it is the right side ( passenger side ) tensioner that you have to remove the plate. The plate some how with the little hole in it stops the proper oil pressure to the tensioner.

Well I did the job and there was no plate behind the right tensionner. I changed for a new one put everything back together. No all this ( aboiut 10hrs ) work did not solve the noise, click, click, just like a clacking valve sound.
