    Rusty's 1/4" spacer -- ease of installation??

with no lift, just the 1/4" plates, the struts don't need to come out, do they? do you think the front wheels could be dropped enough to get the plates in without a spring compressor? mf

    Rusty's 1/4" spacer -- ease of installation??

So I got my front hitch, skid plates, and winch all going, now the front end's a little low, the .25 spacer plates should do all I need...how tough is it to unbolt the strut towers and get those plates in there? Looks like the air box and battery have to come out of the way...do the springs...

Gibson, Borla, or Magnaflow cat back system

I've got an '02 with the factory dual exhaust, which was made by Borla--they have their name stamped on the chrome exhaust tips (although you've gotta crawl under the vehicle and look at them from the bottom up to notice it). Sounds badass. If one of these came up on EBay or a wrecking yard...

anyone got experience with a Wayfinder compass?

Yeah that's normal for any altimeter...they have to be reset every time you start out, either by setting the altitude to a known value or the barometric pressure to a known value. The stock air temp sensor is in front of the radiator. I think it's normal for them to be off when you park in...

    #*^%)*!@### belly shields

Why is this so friggen complicated? Here's the deal. I have an '02 pre-lowered liberty, it has the off-road package, meaning it already has the front end shield, transfer case shield, and gas tank shield. The transmission pan, however, is hanging out in the wind waiting to get slammed into a...

HOW TO: Firewall FAQ - How to run wires/etc

doing a buncha wiring on mine today, just so you know, mine is a 2002 pre-lowered and while the pass-through is there, there is no plug. There was some kind of super tape over the hole and then it was painted over. I would have never seen it if not for this page--thanks guys. matt

    Palm OS Software Sites

I've got a lot of neat stuff at tucows.com. Yes they are amazing. You'll especially enjoy the complete lack of crashing. I've had mine (an older m505) for over 2 years, never so much as a hickup. mf

anyone got experience with a Wayfinder compass?

They look pretty slick to me, especially the new 7500. Does even more than the factory EVIC/OTIS...better compass, atomic clock, temp, etc. etc.. Anyone ever tried one out? For $130 seems like a bargain. If you don't have a clue what I'm talking about here's their website...

what's with the square hole in the rear door?

so you're saying there isn't a storage cubbyhole type thingy available for that space, that could be used for storing something like, oh, a .45? (whistle) thanks for the info mf

what's with the square hole in the rear door?

nah, I've got that too...that's on the right hand side panel. This is actually on the right side of the inside of the rear door. I can't even tell if it's a separate part from the panel, or cast with it in 1 part. mf

what's with the square hole in the rear door?

gotta 2002 Sport, there's this square hole about, oh, 6" square, on the inside kinda near the right side of the door (vehicle side) on the inside. Is this used for something in the Limited or Renegade? Looks like maybe a bomb compartment or something should go there. Anyway if you know, pass...

    $35 to repair a tire

Here in town there's a little hole-in-the-wall tire shop called Pacific Tire--I think they have a chain of stores, maybe as far south as LA but I know they're in Bakersfield and Delano besides Wasco. Anyway, we started doing business there a few years ago because Big O tires was scared of...

Anyway to disable the tire pressure monitor system or TPM :)

You could just take the pressure senders from the old wheels and put them in the new ones--tire shop should have done that actually, without asking. I think they're part of the filler stem (unless they just won't work with the new wheels but I kinda find that hard to believe...)

Trading the TJ for a KJ

diesel opinions... Got an '02 gas KJ, just got it, love it. My work truck is a Duramax. I will never own a diesel vehicle again, and it's not because of that truck---the Duramax/Allison has got to be one of the best setups ever engineered. It will pull your house off it's foundations. It's...

    Slip Yoke discussion...

So I'm under my Liberty the other day installing rock rails and got a good look at the NP xfer case that runs the same stupid slip yoke the Wrangler guys are always cursing. What a stupid stupid design, having the U joint that far out on a shaft is inherently weak. Anyone had problems with it...

    A Pleasant Surprise

this 2002 I got continues to make me smile. When I bought it there was no build sheet for it, so I didn't know it had the off-road package or the Trac-Lok. I also didn't know it had the Infinity speaker package (oh yeah it sounds nice) until I got a build sheet from a dealer. Well, today I...

If you have heated seats on an early KJ please answer this:

Where are the switches for the butt warmers? My father in law had a KJ and I remember them being in the center console. I'm curious to know, because IF they are in the center console I want to use those positions for the off-road lights I'm adding (I don't have butt warmers). If the switches...
