Asked a question before but it got lost in the discussion. Do I need the bushing kit for the KYB Monomax shocks?

Don't know , the ones most use ( BILSTEIN ) they do need the bushing kit.
What do the KYB come off of ,.??

If the shock was under warranty then I would've went to the manufacturer to get it replaced since the vendor did nothing. I've never had a problem with Amazon not honoring returns in a timely manner. Obviously ebay has its issues but I've always gotten a refund from them too. Rockauto has been solid too.
Everyone has their preferences and it doesn't mean that one person is right and the other is wrong. I feel that some people get "scared" to go against the flow.

Went to the manufacturer, they sent me back to who I purchased them from. And round and round I went.
Have to remember I've been ordering stuff for way over 40 years, back when I started you sent in a money order and they sent you the parts. If you got a wrong part you called and they sent right part next day. But back then you rarely got a wrong part.

NOW with Amazon they blamed a supplier , who blamed Amazon , who blamed supplier who,.......well get the story

Not scared to go against the flow , been doing that longer than most on here have been alive !

Bushing kit not necessary with the KYB Monomax shocks. I like the feel of them so far. Nice and tight but give a smooth ride on the road so far. Just need to test them offroad.

So the 60069 shocks are not what I need for the 1.5" OME lift, but that's all OME makes anymore? So I can only try to find 132L's online or buy Bilsteins? Which Bilsteins? Could I use the 132L with the Newer OME coilovers? How about OME fronts and Bilstein rears? Should I just buy Bilstein all the way around? Dangit, I thought I knew what I needed to know and I'm realizing I do not!

You can use Bilsteins all around if you want
regular KJ shocks up front
99-04 Dodge Dakota club cab 4x4 for the rear

I am reading up on all suspension options, mainly with ride quality in mind over actual lift. I sent an email to JBA asking about different spring rates versus quality and got this reply which gives me more questions than answers:

Adam,
Springs give ride height, shocks and struts give ride quality.

You want high quality shocks and struts, not springs.

Thanks
Marlin Gehman

So he makes it sound like the spring rate has absolutely no bearing on the ride quality, but as many of you have already states the OME 927 ride better than the 926, and far better than OEM. Can someone give an explanation why the spring is important in this case, something I can copy/paste back to Marlin so he gets what my question is about?

Or is he right? If I wanted stock height but a better quality ride, can I just replace with OE springs, and add the OME shocks and be done with it? (Actually, are the OME too long for stock height)?

* I know this is the lift discussion thread, but I think the question has merit for lift or stock height.

Lets see where to start, spring rate for stock is 310 pound in front. Springs do two things basically, hold the vehicle to a certain height and determine ride to a point. Stock 310 lb spring gives a very soft ride ( too soft for me ) where as a say 927 front spring at 400 lb gives a firmer ride, feels better, more controlled, takes bumps etc on the road better.
Shocks control the bounce. Remove shocks and it would be like riding a pogo stick, sure you've followed a vehicle with bad shocks and hits a bump and bounces 2-3-4 times. Thats due to worn out shocks .
Springs and shocks must work in conjunction, bad shocks and new springs would just be about as bad as worn out springs and shocks, and vice-versa.
So,....and I know Marlin knows this and may not of understood what you were meaning or something.
Ride quality comes from again, a good combination of both springs and shocks with shocks being the lead dominater in this.
A 600 lb spring with the best shocks in the world would ride very rough, but then again, say like the OME 927s with a worn out or cheap shocks would bounce your butt all over due to them not controlling the up and down motion of the spring.
This why for the last 40 plus years I have preached to replace both no matter what type of vehicle it was . Back when I started doing suspensions in the early 70s, not many people would even replace shocks unless it got real bad, some thought springs would last forever.
Once I had a guy with a 68 Chevrolet Caprice, shocks and springs were shot, lived on a backroad , lots of potholes, washboard etc and just wanted shocks. Explained that shocks alone would not fix the problem he proceeded to tell me how it was. ( little side note his wife would not ride in the car due to it bouncing around so much it made her sick )
So although I wasn't making much I got the best shocks he would let me get. But also ordered 4 new springs, but didn't tell him until after he paid for the shocks and installation. I told him I replaced the springs, if he didn't like the ride he didn't have to pay me for them, but if he did he had to plus 20 bucks.
Two weeks later he walked in with the money for the springs and 50 bucks. Plus his wife was with him and said it was like riding in a new car.
So let me know if any other questions

Not at all, I appreciate the response. This is exactly what I was looking for. I kind of thought exactly that, but after the reply from Marlin I questioned myself. Like you said, he probably just misunderstood the question. Now I can ask a more intelligible question... I'll be going to bed less stupid.

So now what is the question you want to ask?

Long story short, I was just asking if they could get a quality coil spring at a stock height to help improve the ride without a lift. I see the OME springs sell starting at 1.5" lift, the custom JeepinByAl start at 2.5" above stock... I can easily find stock height quality shocks but alone with stock coils I don't much see the point. Seems its all or nothing when it comes to the suspension.

I gotta find me a rich woman...

927s will give 2.5, 400lb

926s about 1.75-2 375 lb
925s 1.25-1.5 350 lb
Front shocks are all the same so thats not an issue
Bilstein make rear shocks for the KJ or use the OME the only ones they make for the KJ now are stock length

I have a quick question, I recently lifted my 04 liberty with the daystar 2.5 spacers. Now I already know there bad for the vehicle and dont need a lesson on why there bad. I'm already looking into a proper lift. But my question is what is the best place to purchase all the parts? Ive been looking around and can't seem to find were you purchase them. If someone can add a link or a website it would be much appreciated.

I saw your review of the JBA 2.5" coilover lift - Silver Package. Would you still recommend this or would OME or something else be better?
