Hi everyone,

I’m from Brazil and recently bought a 2012 Jeep Liberty Limited (KK) with the 3.7L V6 4x4. Here in Brazil the Liberty was sold as the Cherokee.

My goal is to build a reliable daily driver for road trips, dirt roads, and light off-road use (nothing too extreme). I’m planning to run BFGoodrich KO3 tires, either 255/65R17 or 265/65R17.

I’ll be traveling to the United States in August and would like to bring a lift kit back with me. Initially I was looking at the Old Man Emu (OME) suspension, but the complete kit weighs around 74–80 lbs, which makes transporting it in luggage difficult.

One setup I’m considering is the Rocky Road Budget Lift with the monotube nitrogen shocks:

My idea would be to pair that kit with Bilstein B8 5100 front struts.

For those who have experience with KK Libertys:
  • Has anyone run this Rocky Road setup?
  • How does it ride on-road compared to OME?
  • Any issues with durability or suspension geometry?
  • Would it work well with 255/65R17 or 265/65R17 KO3s?
  • Are there other lift options that provide around 2–3 inches of lift while keeping weight and luggage space to a minimum?
I’d appreciate any recommendations or real-world experiences.

Thanks!
Fred
