Got some parts today. Just some small stuff. A little project tomorrow, nothing major. Something I've wanted to try for a few years. More to follow... :secret:

Noticed a bit of rust around the AC Clutch, so got it now somewhat cleaned up..
Ran emery cloth on clutch gap and a few drops oil in between.
It was cold out a bit below freezing, and the clutch would not engage until engine temp hit 145F.
I ran the AC for a while and it is quiet now. It is a good thing to run you AC even in the winter.

Had a peek inside the under hood fuse panel. I was surprised to see that much sandy grit was getting past the cover.

Used some compressed air to blow the crap out, and Q-tip to get much more..

OK really, I found a 08 Dodge Nitro with 33k, and I just couldn't pass on it.
Went from 120k, rusty around the edges, with a few things that didn't work, to an all but new vehicle, I just hope I can keep up my $154 payments.

Best of luck with the new to you Nitro. I almost did the same a few years back on a low mileage Nitro R/T. Nice vehicle and had the 4.0L. Changed my mind at the last minute. Would have been way more than 154 a month. Sounds like you got a good deal for a 33k vehicle. :party52:

They asked me what I wanted for it, I said $5500:happy175:, but realisticly I had to have $3500, and I got it. They only wanted to go $3200. I could have maybe sold it for more, but who knows how long I would have waited. It had an oil leak on the rear of the motor, about a qt every 1k miles, needed the rear handle switch that opens the glass hatch, the drivers door was showing rust around the bottom, and the rust was starting around the roof by the glass hatch, and the rear door had some damage and was starting to rust. Both bumpers had damage, the multifunction switch, (no dash light dimmer or dome light), even the wheels were getting pretty rusty. It did have new snow tires.
I was going to start putting $50 a week away to save for a good down payment on a newer vehicle in a couple years, but this ends up being cheaper.
It is actually what I was looking for when I bought the Jeep, but couldn't find one in the right price and mileage range.

Rerouted the PCV on my 02 today. Thanks to Profdlp for the part number for the PCV hose with the correct connector (53032993AF). Had to trim it a bit to reach the position the original PCV went to on the intake. Really just followed the TSB posted by uss2defiant in this thread: http://www.jeepkj.com/forum/f196/case-missing-pcv-valve-57735/index4.html

I was a participant in the thread and decided to collect the parts. I'd say just buy the kit in the TSB if you really want to do this. Would have actually saved me about 10 bucks overall for pretty much the same parts.

There is a curious and well known issue with condensation (foam) forming in the plastic oil filler tube due to the PCV location. The system draws hot crankcase vapor with moisture up through the tube and into the PCV system. The moisture condenses in the cooler fill tube and PCV tube. I guess it can actually accumulate enough in the PCV tube, freeze up and cause a blockage that is not good. I just hate to see any froth or condensate when I check my oil. Usually a long trip will cook off all the moisture so not an issue but not every trip is a long one. For me, regardless of the quality of the oil, I still see a bit of condensation from time to time. Not by any means a necessary procedure for most of us, but does seem like it could be helpful for those in very cold climates.

Thanks for the info. Never had an issue with the new engine and condensation. Yet everything in the engine bay is new and the pcv valve and tube other. Old engine did have that issue.

Really only took about 30 minutes and most of that was removing and replacing the big intake resonator we have on the 02s (and 03s I think) to get the old PCV tube out. That part number you gave me had the correct end for a perfect secure fit to the new PCV. Had a bit of a trim to reach the original spot on the intake manifold up near the brake booster. The 07 has a different intake manifold based on your images in your "how to" thread. Now I just need a 34mm socket to make future changes easier. New PCV threaded right into the breather bore at the back of the head but had to put it in with a very small channel lock plier, about a 1/16th of a turn at a time. :gr_grin:

Looks like if you order the real kit you get a "warning" sticker indicating you did the reroute. :shrug:
