for oil i use mobile 1 full syn high mileage

for axles front and back i use regular dino gear oil.

for trans and trans case i us castrol atf+4. i think its used in the ps pump to iirc. havent changed that in a while. cant remember.

for radiator i use hoat from the dealer.

for the wife i use my ***** lol!!

my wife lies strawberry before ***** .

If you are referring to the fluid, it's known as *****, not '*****'...

OK, here's what I have for now:

Gear Oil - Front & Rear: Going Dino 80W-90. I can always change it out if I need the heavier stuff at some point.

Transfer Case Fluid: ATF+4 from the approved list.

Power Steering Fluid: ATF+4 from the approved list.

Transmission Fluid: The more I read about this the less I want to mess with it myself. Maybe after the others are done I will reconsider.

Brake Fluid: Going to have to learn some more about brakes before I dive in.

Just crack open the bleeders and let it flow. Seriously, remove old fluid from the reservoir (bet u didn't know I knew French) using a syringe or turkey bastardizer. Refill with your favorite (brake) fluid. Then start with the further most wheel (right rear) and open the bleeder valve whilst leaving the reservoir cover off. The fluid will gravity feed out the connected clear hose that I meant to mention in the previous sentence, into a receptacle of your choosing. When that one runs clear, proceed to the drivers side rear, right front, then left front. Do all of this while keeping an eye or two on the level in the reservoir. Don't let it suck air.

The big question with regards to bleeding the brakes is

Do you have ABS?

W/ that youtube link I sent you, it should be pretty easy.

You may want to invest in a pressure bleeder setup as the old 'pumping the brakes' method can damage seals in the master cylinder as all kinds of gunk can collect near the end of the pushrod travel which you don't ordinarily push the seals into with normal braking....but when the pedal goes to the floor you have pushed the seals into the gunk which can be abrasive and mess up the seals....YMMV

Yes on the ABS. I'm going to watch the YT video a few more times and maybe give it a shot. Thing is, my brakes have not felt quite right lately. Could be the cold, or maybe I have some salt stuck in there somewhere, but I really want to check them from one end to the other. I also want to learn how to do ALL of this stuff so I never have to let someone else mess with it ever again.

Right now, I need to get over this crummy cold so I can do anything. :blah:

The DIY $20 brake bleeder

How to do stuff: How to Make DIY Power Brake Bleeder

I just bought a new brake reservoir cap and a schrader valve. Used my electric tire pump w/ a psi setting to pressurize the reservoir.
used the plastic hose and bottle, one person technique on the bleeder screw.

with ABS you don't want air to get back into the master cylinder if you're going to DIY.
Otherwise you'll need to go to a shop, dealership or find someone with a bidirectional scanner to cycle the ABS solenoids to get the air out.

Brake inspection at shops are typically free.

Bought five quarts of ATF + 4 to do the Power Steering and Transfer Case. I also bought a gallon of 80W-90 for the front and rear differentials. The weather is looking dodgy for the next two days but Saturday is supposed to be nice. That will give me time to make sure I know what I'm doing. :D

I bought the same stuff too.
I've got some ****** work to take care off, attempt to loosen the stuck transfer case plug w/ a electric impact drill, and gear oil.

ordered from cardpool walmart gift card for 3.5% less of the card's value with 1.5% cashback using fatwallet and another 1% cashback with my CC. Save whatever $$ I can.

Nice looking gasket, but woof, $25 plus shipping. I prefer to use the universal fit gasket, and it only costs $5...

I use a paper gasket glued to the Crane cover, never have to worry about it. Remove bolts, no prying etc of the cover, falls off, wipe it down , reinstall once again. No need for a gasket or anything each time.
Hate permatex etc and cleaning that stuff off. I have more important things to do ! :icon_lol::ROFLJest:
Guess this is the Poormans Lube Locker, been doing it long before LubeLockers ever were thought of
