current setup: OME 927, Rancho 17505, KK clevis, and clevis lift as well.

problem: Started clunking only when I turn.. and progressively got worse with the stock UCAs, inspected ball joints and the boot was ripped and there was play in them.

After installing Al's Gen 4.5 I am still hearing this noise at times. Is my lift too high? Should I drop the "clevis lift" down a little bit? Its roughly 23" maybe a tad more from center hub to fender.. with brand new UCA/UBJ i find it hard to believe it could be that..

Any insight?

Thanks, Chase

I still get the occasional grunt and groan from our Frankenlift!
Most often when driving like an old lady over a speed bump!

Take 'er off road and I don't hear anything except for Jen tightening her sphincter!:D

Go beat on it for a little while!

BTW, I'm well over 23 inches in the front with machined inner CV joints and not so much as a peep from the inner CV's...
The Teraflex extended bump stops have had their cherry broken by the upper ball joint Zerk fitting as well!

Is it still only when you turn? is it a rotational clunk or?

yes its still only when I turn. and no not a rotational. just like a popping kinda noise.

and ryan, I dont have machined cvs ha.
(gotta love your wording on all of that)
and next purchase is gonna be terraflex bumpstops for sure.

Without him getting more specific on what the noise is, it's going to be hard to diagnose over TEH INARWEBZ

well if i knew what the noise was it wouldn't need diagnosing :D

but it only happens when i turn one pop-like noise when i turn left and that's it until i turn right then one more. and its not every time i turn. i can feel it in my pedal too. when my music is up i can still tell when it does it.. idk how to be more specific?

Damn now the lowers too? I just put on JBAs uppers and will jeep replace those for free? or does the lift and all compromise all that? I believe before I bought it it had the recalled ones installed.

this is the thread I was looking for.

I too suffer from this random clunk, which sometimes turns into a small but loud grind during a turn (its a sudden grind that lasts just a fraction of a second), or with any side to side force on the tire, and today it made the clunk when I hit my brakes.

tjkj said sway bar links? hmm. never thought of that. I was thinking more of the LCA bushings or something.

See I kept thinking it was my rack and pinion, because I know it's got a bit of play in it and it ticks and tocks when you wobble the steering wheel without the engine running, but today pulling into work, I hit my brakes pulling into a parking spot with the wheels straight, and it cloinked.

that right there leads me to believe it's not the rack and pinion clunking.. but something else. because theres no force applied to the rack and pinion with acceleration or braking is there? ... actually. there is now that I think about it- but if it's not the rack and pinion, what else could it be?

I'd check sway bar links first, if the LCA bushings were going bad, I'm thinking there would be a squeek over every bump, turn, acceleration and braking action before a clunking sound.
