Side view mirror. At the Airshow this weekend. The Dauntless has a most excellent rumble to the engine.

Sounds about right...if you look closely at the one in my pic it does have what I think is a 'window breaker' steel point on the end of it
I keep one handy as well. Though I must be careful with my size 14 feet.

Did you see any P-40’s? My Grandad flew those in China vs. the Imperial Japanese. This was after the “Flying Tigers” were absorbed into the US Army Air Corps.

Alas, no. Still hoping to see one of those and a P-47 someday. I haven’t been to a show in over forty years. A couple of STOL planes have cartoonishly large Tundra tires, and I bet there’s some wrangler guys here wondering if they could run them.

I finally collected all the pieces for a revamp of the rear springs and shock mounting. The rear shocks are new Bilstein 5100's and the springs are old 4" JBA lift springs, but the old springs still do well. (They are no longer JBA red though.) The Bilstein 5100 shock eyelets/bushing sleeves are slightly too narrow for the Liberty's rear shock mounting points on the body and axle. JBA had to modify them to fit in their lift kit, so I will too.

Arrived this week:
- stainless steel tube for wider upper shock bushing/mounts. The upper shock bushings had washers on either side to make them wide enough, but the new shocks will now have the proper width steel bushing sleeves to fill the shock mounts (after I cut them to length).
- 4 rubber O-rings to go on either side of the shock's upper bushing, keeping the shock centered on the steel tube
- 4 stainless washers to make the lower shock bushings wide enough
- 2 new Mopar upper bump stops, as the originals are trashed
- 6 new hockey pucks, to replace the JBA lower bump stops which are broken now also
- 4 new Mopar upper and lower spring isolators (which are actually all the same part number)

Has anyone had success repainting crusty springs? If so, I'd be interested in how you prepped and painted them. There is very little sag in the rear springs but they have lost 99% of their red paint and don't look great. Whatever paint used would have to be able to bend with the shocks and not crack.

Here is where I'm getting my info on knowing what to order for making the 5100 shocks fit (thank you @duderz7 and JBA for the detailed pictures):

And it was super hard to locate the right size stainless steel tube for the bushing sleeves, until I found this Amazon link posted by @Hec In Omaha for his KK, Quackers:

Quackers' lift thread is super detailed and worth a read!

I have been doing so much work on the Liberty in the last couple of years, my wife and I splurged today and got a 30-year old Craftsman toolbox from a local seller on FB Marketplace. Happy birthday to us!

Super excited to have a garage now! And the toolbox fits!

We recently moved into a new house and, before this, I did all my work on Jeepy while parallel parked on the street in front of our old place. Definitely this is an upgrade! A garage and a driveway... what a concept!

The new garage will be organized soon. You can see it is in storage pit mode at the moment, since we just moved in. But I won't have to store my tools in cardboard boxes anymore. :D The wooden shelves can be for bottles of oil, filters, Jeep parts, paint, and such.

So finally swapped out Sway bar mounts, they were new about two years prior to doing whole front end, so I didn't expect them to wear fast, they where the blue Moog ones. During removal the sway bar seemed tight on end links, those are new, less than 1000 miles, they feel tight. So I put just put the new swap bar mounts on took for a driver, no more clucky clunky sound, can't believe it. So I am happy with that. Not sure if I should bother with links now since everything is fine and those felt tight.

Question I know over the years, the liberties changed from clutch fan to electric fan. I know my electric fan comes on, temp wise I am always about the middle gauge, but sometimes when I'm out driving and come home I would expect the fan to run a little when I shut her down like some other cars and I don't hear that.

Has anyone noticed (those with electric fans stock 2007) are they suppose to be running when shutting off. I was wondering if I may have a temp sensor starting to act up or is this is normal.

Rolled 229K miles and still purs like a kitten, I do need to put in some new plugs, soon.

I painted the wiper arms and nut covers.
I used a matte finish, but semi-gloss might have been better.
Next I plan to paint the weatherstrip belts on the outside of the windows.

Today I pulled off the passenger side rear plastic rocker cover as it was about to fall off. The driver side fell off last year, so I am planning on removing the front sections (I don't want them to fall off while driving) and plan to start trimming all the rusty metal away.

I wanted to ask the 927 front springs seem to be what ever one is running, and the 948's on the rear. If I run the 4600 Bilsteins on the front, with the 927 springs, I can't seem to find a part number for 4600 Bilstein for the rear for the 948 springs, it would require a longer travel, so it would not be stock one. Can someone that is running the Bilsteins, with those springs let me know. I have 07

Thank You,

Jeepy's new badge finally came the other day and the weather cleared enough to put it on...

I got my first buck this year, 2nd week of September, in my 2nd archery season. I'm hunting a half mile from home and the deer just happened to end up in a field even closer to home. I hooked the trailer up to Jeepy and the wife drove up next to the deer and we were able to just gut it and throw it on the trailer and haul it home. I'd been planning to pack it home on my back once I got a deer so I figure ol' Jeepy earned the badge, she's hunting rated now.
