I'm about due for a new set of shoes, myself. Will be able to get another 6 months out of thesw, hopefully, and I'll likely go with another set of the Coopers..
Doing motor mounts tomorrow. Last did the about 4 years ago. I'll see if I can suss out a way to make poly happen when I get the old ones out.

As for what I did... So, the OTHER hoseclamp on that hose decided to let go (in much less dramatic fashion, thankfully)... So, I happened to find this out when I was in the vicinity of my favorite Italian restaurant. Parked next door and was in the process of addressing it (calmly organizing my tools while it cooled down and I tried to find my gloves) when I realized they were open. Very tempting, to have dinner while it cooled, but I didn't. Easy fix once it got to around 150 and I was able to use a few paper towels to ease the heat a bit. New (worm drive) clamp on, and let's see how that goes...

Just ordered new motor mounts. Apparently it's been 4 years since I did these, and they were Pioneer brand... Which, although a common enough English word, is questionable quality. I ordered Anchor brand, 90 for the pair and will be here Wednesday. Tra.nny mount out of stock, but easy enough to do when they come in.

Which leads me to this... Who's interested in poly engine and motor mounts for our Jeeps? I know they aren't available... But I happen to know how to pull this off.. A few ways, actually. Who's interested?
Question, what led you to replacing motor mounts, just noticed they were bad, making sound if so what kind?

Well, new mounts are in. The old ones - all of 4 years old - were absolutely shot. The rubber on the driver's side was laying on the skidplate..

And my son looks like he's been through the war...

About 3.5 hours to do the whole job. Last time it took about 8. He's learned a thing or two since getting promoted from lube tech to main shop....

I tired to remove mine once. they're stuck in the chassis side mount. luckily they don't need to be changed yet, but that'll be a war when the time comes.

did mine while the front diff was out, it was almost too easy.
Yeah that is the cheat code if you have the diff out.
My son removed the starter to get to the driver's side (I think) easier. The fact that the rubber for it was laying on the skidplate, so he was able to remove it in 2 pieces, helped.

One HELL of a difference now. We didn't replace the tra.nny (F the filter) mount because I couldn't find a known good brand in stock. Having just replaced the motor mounts (with Anchor brand this time - only rubber brand I'll ever use again, definitely not Pioneer, ever again! ), the transmission shifter doesn't move *at all* no matter how hard I'm torquing the drive train with acceleration or decel. From the initial install of the last mounts, there were times I'd miss shift because the shifter would move so much. I literally feel like I have an extra 30HP now, due to not moving the drive train around.
No indication of needing a train.ny mount anytime soon, so that's good.

Well, I may be spitting in the eye of the village witch here, but here's what I intend to do on the jeep over the next week...
Nothing.. Except clean out some of the misc tools, parts, and etc that have piled up. I'm bad about that sort of thing. Next weekend my son and I are going to be on the range all weekend, and I need to make room for a large tarp, a couple of rimfire rifles, snivel gear (ponchos, etc - they only cancel if there's a hurricane blowing in, knock wood we won't be dealing with that this time), snacks, drinks, etc.
It's a combination of American history and marksmanship. My son will be going for his Rifleman patch with irons, and since I'm 54 now and have started needing glasses, I'll be using a scope. I have just mounted up a scope on a rifle I've literally never fired before, built of secondhand bits. Should be fun!

This came in the mail a few days ago and I finally got a chance to check it out. Works great! I bought one for each side, no more awkward footholds to reach the rooftop cargo!!

My wife ordered them but here is a link to a similar product...if you search on Amazon for 'car door step' you'll get a good selection

Sounds about right...if you look closely at the one in my pic it does have what I think is a 'window breaker' steel point on the end of it

$10 … Dam that is CHEAP!!!

Heres hoping that its properly cast.

Found an upgraded, folding hook version of the original model, made by Rightline Moki.

Also available in the US on Amazon for $35

Unfortuantly I am a big monster so that would probably break.
