For the third day in a row I drove it to my new job. Tough stop-and-go miles coming and going...

Tough on me, too. I went from having way too much free time to not nearly enough. :blah:

But now you have money....and yeah, the traffic in NoVA ain't fun.

used it to pick up some computer gear from a client that's shut his biz down.
his "servers" now run as VMs on my hosted gear.

Whats the brass one in the middle? A Dipstick?

I honestly do not know...not even pictured on their website catalog...I'm guessing a boss for a temp probe? I'll look at it more closely during tomorrow's install...had to be Mr. Mom tonight and cook dinner...this domestic s**t sure cuts into my wrench time! :happy175:

Just like work negatively impacts fun time...as you are re-discovering! Still, I'm glad to hear you are once again nose-to-grindstone...:whip:

if it is a boss for a temp probe, find out which one they recommend. That'd be a neat cover to have especially when I tow. see if it really makes a difference in rear end temps.

Seeing as our stock cover has the fill hole a little below center, that brass plug would then be the "fill to" check point, while you're adding the oil into the top opening. Filling the oil up to the top fill plug would put the oil level waaaay too high.

I bought it here in Quebec craiglist for 550$can. Very good price. They selling it for 750$can Tx in. It's must be some Chinese importation from the same plant that makes ARB RTT. The brand is Explorer.

I installed it on the original plastic and aluminum rack but I did reinforced it with some rubber pieces between the rails and roof. Dont put an RTT on your roof without doing that. Illtry to post some pics soon to show exactly what I mean.

Stock roof rails are only good for 150 lbs max, so yes install some good aftermarket metal bars to hold a RTT.

I notched out my shroud this morning.
7" x 0.5" notch was barely enough get the shroud out.
The dimensions may vary depending on what clutch fan you have.

The goal is to notch it out enough to move it pass the clutch fan.

Now I can get to my oil pressure sender, lower rad hose and thermostat.

Well done man!!

Told you it wasn't much of a notch - just enough to get the shroud wiggled out. You'll do it a few times and be able to swap it out in less than 5 minutes :waytogo:

Thanks Bob!
I took a video of me taking the shroud out and explaining the process in case I ever forget the steps.
Very specific steps just to remove it.

The first and best mod I've done on the jeep.

Any other helpful mods?
