What happens to a CV driveshaft that is not maintained properly,it's in a XJ but you get the idea.

Wow, makes me want to put a safety loop on both drive shafts. Had a shaft break on me once. A '70 Dart, Landy B1 440, A833 and a 9" out back. Snapped a joint and beat the crap out of the floor and the shaft but luckily had a safety loop in place.

That's exactly why I do 95% of the work on all my vehicles. I save money, but the big reason is to avoid problems like you mentioned.

I wonder if my peace of mind inspection at time of oil change at dealer once a year covers all the zerk fittings?
Can some one list ALL of the required 14 zerks ??
..I have factory skids which ones have to come off then?

You don't have 14 sorry.
Well you could have 6 or so depending, I have 2 on the JBA UCAs , two on the LBJs, and two on the rear Ujoints.
Reason they went to non greaseable was people were too lazy to grease them like they should, same as the oil bath air filters :p

he's talking about his S-10 ZR2.. not his liberty. at least that's what I can make of it.

Holy Hell!!

How bad was the guy hurt?? I assume he was cruising down the highway when it let go otherwise you wouldn't have that kind of damage.

Yeah you guys with grease zerks on the KJ, thats because of your aftermarket parts. I would like to put new ball joints in mine with actual grease fittings but the dealer will keep doing them for free under the recall, that is until they actually remember to mark it as done, but i have heard of some guys complaining and getting them done 2-3 times or more. One dealer told me if they come in more than twice then they will give the option to install aftermarket ball joints at the customers expense, just pay for parts and the labor is free. Hmmm, seems to me thats an admission of how bad the originals are or??

And then i know one guy with over 100k on his factory originals and no problems.
