KJ tank skid plate

Looking for a KJ tank skid plate.

They are pretty rare. $500 new & shipping at skidrow.

Has anyone modified a wrangler plate to fit a liberty? I can buy junkyard oem wrangler plates for $75-100, shipping included, all day long.

My thoughts are to mount it to my hitch.

I am a fabricator so this is not a steep hill to climb. If the basic plate inside measurements are close. Which is 17" wide x 36" long. Hight doesn't matter as that is where the most of the modification will take place.

Suggestions?

I found one in Canada local to me ish - on Vancouver island last spring, cost me $50 CAD

Got some info back on the wrangler skidplate measurements. 35.5 long x 21 wide. On ebay.

I will try to document my project.

I don't think its going to be difficult.

The wrangler to liberty tank skid plate went well. It is not something you can do in your garage with a propane torch. But if you are a fabricator its pretty straight forward. The short version. I mounted it to my trailer hitch. All I needed was the pan. I cut off the wrangler mounting. Made my own.
