Went to replace my Ujoints today and noticed this on the transfercase end of the rear driveshaft. It looks better in the pics, but I took a screwdriver and went around the diameter and there is less of a groove in that spot to hold the ring in. Is this a big deal? It's about a 1/4" long.

Just to put that in perspective,,,If you turn the spring clip retainer so it's gap lines up with that little hickey, which is bigger, the gap or the hickey?

From the picture I'd say it's a non issue.

Looks like a ujoint went out and had been that way for a while
From the picture looks like there is some gouging inside there where the cup would sit , that could be an issue

Got it back together. Just lined up the indentation in the ring with that spot so it's a non issue.

Tom, your likely right. Though it could be where some Mr. Goodpliers has already replaced the original, though. :happy175:
