I am going to buy a liberty today just wanted you guys to weigh
in on this purchase. I have narrowed it down to 5

2003 jeep renegade 5 spd,122k.lt green , not my fave
color but i can handle it. I have 2 2004's both red, one
with 79k and one with 104k. Tan 2004 with 104k. A
2005 blue with 124kmiles. I haven't checked vin's yet
for accidents but i will before i make a purchase.

They all seem reasonably priced. i check nada and kkb.
I do like a manual but don't want to have the problems that
sota has with his 2007. I would really like your opinion

Hard to say from here. The years and miles sound reasonable at face value. You will be the one to get up close and personal with those 5 Jeeps and see which one you like best. Check them out good, including the 4 wheel drive and maintenance records if available.

Good luck, and we want pics of course.

Sota has a 2007 which I believe is a 6 speed with an electronic throttle. The 2003 will be a bit of a different beast.

I can't speak for the reliability with the manual trans...but the automatic isn't the most reliable trans in the world so.

each of the jeeps i'll be looking at are at least a hour away from me. I'll look at them
one at a time after i do the vin check.I'll let you know what i buy and post a

Dealers or Craigslist?
If you need any help let me know, been around a few :)happy175:) and know what to look for as far as issues with what years
I'm sure this time of year the prices will be higher but I got my last one ( the 03 ) with 78,000 for a good bit less than 4000 tax / title/ everything out the door
Plus was able to talk to the original owners and got all service records

Don't know what price range you are looking at

Price range is $4,500 to 5,200. I am looking at mostly 2004. There are 2 one owner
Jeeps that have clean accident history that i am most interested in. Several others
have clean accident history but have been lease vehicles. Maybe they were not taken
care of as well as the one owner. I am going to a dealer to look at a 2004 jeep
liberty tomorrow. It is red,one owner 100k mi. It is at a honda dealer that
we know well and they are very ethical.
Several of the buy owner vehicles i have checked out on craigs list have had
accidents and i nixed them. I'll keep you updated. If the one tomorrow does not
work out . I have a few more to check out. Unfortunately none are in my
town. Does anyone know why kkb and nada values differ so much? kkb is usually
lower than nada...

If you need me to look at any in the C-bus area let me know, near Easton so can get most anywhere fairly easy.
Yes Craigslist is not ideal for finding " good " cars. Some do pop up but....
The red 04 what is it Sport, Limited or ??
Red is my second favorite color , black being the first , but my green one is growing on me. But its not the typical green you see most of the time

So you live in the Columbus area ...We recently moved to Howard Ohio from
Delaware , Ohio. The car we are looking at is at Rousch Honda in Westerville.
at their budget car lot. They were going to call me this afternoon and do a walk
through with me on the phone. I told him that i want a car with a clean body.
If it meets our approval we would go to Westerville tomorrow morning and
check it out further. I believe it is a sport. 100k mi. Around here it seems like
it's the dealers that have all the low mileage jeeps. Thanks for your offer! I'll
let you know if we decide to see it. We'll probably leave early am to be there 10:00
ish. JB

Personally just adding my opinion, but I'd say if the rust is too much, or the rear of the rockers look on their way.. I'd say just go for the 03 renegade. I'd rather have a stick, a d you just say green.. like Tom's green or like cactus green? Cuz I love the cactus green libbys so that would further me saying that one lol

I'd just get which ever one has less rust. All of them have basically the same mileage, at least in KJ terms.

This is true..
Rust should be the main deciding factor, not mileage. Maintainence means everything.
Example: I fixed a front end collision KJ yesterday. Same year as mine, 03, but theirs had less than half as many miles as mine and twice the rust. Theirs sat just below 93k and mine is at 207k.. also had previous collision repairs to the left fender area and rear bumper/tailgate area..
So while theirs may sit at a lot lower miles, it will rot out long before it gets near my 207k.
And at that point it will make a nice New York vehicle :happy175: :happy175:

I agree , I would be much more interested in one that was rust free than one that had rust spots .
