Just thought this was interesting. The FSM for my 57 Plymouth lists either SAE5 or 5W20 as the viscosities to use for cold weather operation. Most folks think of 5W20 as a newcomer, but it was recommended by a vehicle mfr over 50 years ago! Kinda takes the idea about 5W20 being introduced for CAFE, and blows it right outta the water...I don't think they had CAFE in 1957!

I'm going to start a thread called "God's Truth About Oil" and see how fast the server catches on fire.

SAE 5w oil is a single weight oil and is no way close to 5w20,multi viscosity oils did not exist back then.

Cause I don't like warranty work, rip off for techs.Plus I get paid well working at Firestone,I'm projected to clear $75,000(before taxes) this year and it's been slow.
I would think someone of your stature, of your experience would have his own shop...

+1 my friend

Reading these "know-it-alls" is more entertaining than Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart combined! LOL
