Aftermarket mufflers and (VA) Safety Inspections

Anyone used Permatex products? (edited entire thread) Specifically, the "Permatex, Inc. 80331 Muffler And Tailpipe Bandage" For some reason, I can't stop a leak where the tailpipe and muffler connect on my Magnaflow kit. When I block the tailpipe, exhaust leaks out in this area. "Why...

    Wiring and connectors...

How would that work? Is there one slot for the battery and one for the accessory in the fuse panel?

    Wiring and connectors...

Does anyone know the AWG on the wiring that attaches the HU? I'm trying to crimp on connectors to the battery and accessory wires without stripping or soldering. What are those called and where can I find them? Thanks!

Flashing LED (simulated car alarm) wiring

That would be my guess, too. I just can't figure out where that "yellow" wire would be, though. I'm thinking of simply going with a tiny flip switch. I don't want to start stripping and tapping into wires for hours in this 100 degree weather. Anyone know where I can find a tiny switch? Kind...

Flashing LED (simulated car alarm) wiring

I can't think of anything that activates when the ignition is shut off. I wonder if I could somehow tie it in with the factory alarm where I press Lock and the LED flashes...but I have no idea where to look. Suggestions?

Flashing LED (simulated car alarm) wiring

I got one of those flashing LED's off eBay (simulated car alarm)... There's a white wire (constant 12V+)...okay Then there's a black wire (12- ground)...yup, makes sense Finally, there's a yellow wire that says "connects to any 12+ Accessory Wire for the 12+ when the ignition is on"...Huh...

How to add an extra inch or two (to the stock jack)...

I'm trying to spend little to no money on this issue...after all, I don't plan on getting flat tires frequently. So I guess the wooden block idea is the way to go. Thanks!

How to add an extra inch or two (to the stock jack)...

I had a flat recently... jacked up the KJ with the stock jack to the max height, pulled out the flat... when I tried to install the inflated spare, it would not fit; the KJ was not jacked up high enough (because my KJ is lifted). Lucky for me I found stacks of plywood nearby so I stacked them...

    Tire Pressure Alarm

I had a flat tire...rolled on it for almost a half mile to find a suitable place to change it with the spare. Of course, the tire pressure alarm (not from an EVIC; just that amber light) was going crazy. I got the tire repaired and all tires are at 33-36 psi. But my Tire Pressure Alarm keeps...

Replace factory speakers in dash and doors

It's real simple... Unfortunately, I don't have a scanned diagram, but I'll try to walk you through it in words: 1. Remove the A-Pillars. The handles have two, small covers that pull right off with your fingers and you'll see screws holding it in place. For a 2005 KJ, I used a 5.5mm...

Spare Tire Cover (now with a pic)

Tony, are you talking about those plastic tire covers you see on local Cherokees?

    subwoofer security

I take it you do not have a cargo cover since you're hiding it with a suitcase. Anyway, that's how I have mine hidden. I think the easiest, cheapest way would be simply to use a thin bike chain (those wire type ones that look like amp power cables)--one with a combo lock--and chain it to one...

Spare Tire Cover (now with a pic)

Expensive, indeed! I was quoted US$200 at the local dealer here.

    Underbody/Interior Lighting On Miah's Liberty. +Links

I was thinking Borg. (biggrin) Looks really nice, Miah! Great write up. I'm still debating if I should go with green or white (for a light khaki Rennie)...maybe I should put up a poll.

Is it something I should be concerned about?

    removing the bumper

Isn't the grill just clipped on? I've got an 05, but it's a Renegade...maybe they're different? I just found out yesterday...just popped open the hood and saw the clips (or latches...whatever) across the top of the grill.

Where's a good temp sensor location?

I've installed one of those auto-dimming mirrors with temp/compass. I tied the temperature sensor with the factory one within the grille (meant for the EVIC--thinking it was the perfect place for it). The average temperature here is around 73-80 degrees (F), but the readout always goes...

    Where in the fuse box?

Thanks for the info, unixxx!...was exactly what I was looking for. Now, if only that darn thing arrives in the mail some time this week so I could hook it up. 8-[

    Where in the fuse box?

Question(s)... The ignition wire...is it not a good idea to run/tap/splice multiple gadgets to it (like a Navigation, GPS, Radar...all feeding off one wire)? I'm thinking someday I'll add a bunch of gadgets; thought I'd make a "connection point" for them. BTW, anyone have a pic of the...
