    Disabling the kill engine security

If I remember my owner's manual, you can program your own third key IF you have both factory issued keys. There's a key on, key off, change key etc. kind of procedure.

Terror in a CRD - Uncontrolled Accelleration

Had a similar problem while paying at the exit of a parking garage. I had the Libby in drive with my foot on the brake. Next thing I new, the back tires were screeching, smoke was billowing, Libby was shaking, and the booth attendant was petrified. I slammed the tranny into neutral, and somehow...

    ARB SNORKEL!!!!

So with a snorkel my CRD (no spark plugs) should be able to crawl along the lake bottom. Oh yeah, I will need my scuba tank.

    TPM Issue

I had that message on a very cold day, and pumped up all 5 tires to 40psi. The message went away for a while, but later in the day a new message "TPMS System Failure" came up. That message stayed for a few days, and then suddenly vanished. I took it to Mr. 5 Star who couldn't find anything...

    Brake Moan or Shoulder Harness

Nope. If your brakes moan, there is just no doubt about it. Mr. 5 star tells me it is the number 1 complaint of Liberty owners. I have had three repairs for brake moan (Rotors, calipers, and pads). Backing up when cold is when it is noticed most often, although I have also heard it after...

    hitch mounted cargo basket

No, I just change the odo in my profile from time to time. When I first assembled the carrier, I had the tongue turned over. In that configuration, the mounting holes line up differently, and it is a couple of inches closer to the hitch than what you see in the pictures. I wanted the greater...

    Bye, Bye Goodyears! (new Pictures)

Glad you like the new rubber. roadrunner gave me a bit of a tutorial on tires some time ago. http://jeepkj.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2318&highlight= Like grogiefrog, I was surprised and disappointed when I did my first 5 tire rotation of the stockers. The wear difference after only 6000...

    hitch mounted cargo basket

The load capacity is 500 pounds when the tongue set with the carrier closest to the hitch. I loaded it up with about 550 pounds of patio stones and the Liberty didn't sag a bit. I didn't have far to go from the Home Depot, but the Liberty didn't seem to handle any differently than normal.

    hitch mounted cargo basket

Hers's how the Coleman hitch mounted carrier looks from the back. It is 60 inches wide which is about the same as the Liberty. The tongue can be mounted upside down, but I expect most people mount it this way to give maximum ground clearance. I have never had any trouble with it bottoming...

No pictures at the moment, but if I get a chance I'll take one over the next few days.

    hitch mounted cargo basket

Here's what I did. Turns out the "tongue" is reversible and I did not need a hitch extension. This cost $70 at Target. I think the Haulmark sold at Wlmart is similar, but costs $50. It worked great hauling paving stone from home depot.

    CRD Engine Heater Observations

'Twas a dark and frosty night... Last weekend we stayed in Sheridan Wyoming. The temperature dropped to about -30C (-22F) overnight, and when we got going at 7 am, it had warmed? up to -25C. I filled up with fresh, local truck stop #2, and plugged in the CRD's block heater before retiring. So...

Considering KJ purchase, seeking feedback on certain things

I think the high compression of the diesel enhances the auto tranny. Have always preferred manual myself, but the CRD & auto is a winner.

Tire confusion - Goodyear Silent Armor

Thanks for the education. Your post was the first place I read SL = standard load. Apparently, I missed the September promotion at GY, but there is to be some other one starting in late October. I will wait until there is a better deal. The local GY dealer is selling these at full MSRP!

    Reliability?

The repair order states they adjusted the latch. It still sticks occasionally however, particularly these cold mornings. After the sun has been beating on it for a while, it seems to work fine.

Tire confusion - Goodyear Silent Armor

From some "websearch", I like what I read about the Wrangler SilentArmor, so I called the local dealer. I asked if they had them in the 225 75 R16 size that is standard on the 05 CRD, and was told that they were only available as LT225/75R16 (not P-metric). He went on to say that the LT was of...

    Theft Deterrent Warning Stickers

I bought a VIN etching kit called VINShield http://www.vinshield.com/. I submitted my VIN number, and 3 days later I had the kit with enough stencils and acid to etch 10 windows. I did the windshield, two front sides, two rear sides, two rear fixed panes, rear flip glass, & sun roof. I think...

    Reliability?

Stupid minor things that have been corrected under warranty: - Rear brake moan (TSB) now fixed after two attempts. - Rear seatbelt jammed on first use. - Rear flipper glass did not completely open when using remote. Now it works most of the time. Not enough problems to interfere with the...

What did you sell or trade to get your KJ?

Kept the '94 Saab. Even at 250k, it still looks and runs great. We just don't take it anywhere now that we have the KJ, but I can't part with it.
