I keep reading the reports of rear brake moan and figured I wasn't affected because the diesel was too loud or too many roack concerts and D-4's in my youth. I had been hearing a slight moan lately though but mostly when backing. It is the seat belt shoulder harness tensioner though. Could easily have thought it was the brakes as it was hard to locate immediately with the radio, blower and diesel noise. Perhaps others have made the same mistake.

Nope. If your brakes moan, there is just no doubt about it. Mr. 5 star tells me it is the number 1 complaint of Liberty owners. I have had three repairs for brake moan (Rotors, calipers, and pads). Backing up when cold is when it is noticed most often, although I have also heard it after interstate stops.
