    Help No Heat!

The defroster actually uses the AC, because that's what draws the moisture out, and that's why the air coming out is cold. Turn the defrost off if you want max heat but obviously there are times that you need both. However, your problem is likely the resistor for the heat system. It's...

    mud vs snow/ice driving tips?

Those tires are exactly what you don't want for ice or thin snow, you need ice tires with lots of sipes. But if no choice, keep eyes way forward, steer into slides. Do nothing abruptly. If in any of the 4x4 modes, giving gas in slides will understeer even more. If you have time to experiment...

Need input on my Bad MPG, I did search!

Sounds like bad mileage but hard driving will do it to Libertys. Going easy I get 15 mpg city, 24 mpg hwy if I keep it to 65 MPH, but down to 20 mpg if cruising 70-75.

    Questions for the towing experts

Use the Overdrive lock-out on the hilly parts and approaches to keep the tranny down a gear rather than up and down. Eats the gas but helps prevent overheat on non-tow package KJs.

    Feelers/Opinions: 2003 Renegade

Yeah with that many people you're packed for any extended camping. There are some very cool, tough, relatively small tenting trailers out there made for 4 wheeling, storage, stove, water, tent platform for 2, even water heaters and showers built in. 5 years ago since I had url for a particular...

    Roof Rail Load Weight?

Put the back seat down, open the rear hatch, put a blanket against the rubber seal, and another to protect the back of the front seats, load the lumber through the hatch, sticking out. Tie the load together to prevent shifting. I've carried tons of lumber that way.

    Need some winter tire help

You should get 4, you need to stop and steer, if you have just 2 the rears will have traction and fronts won't have near the same quality. Light snow is usually slick so get real winters with lots of sipes in the tread, you don't want a blocky tread.

BFG A/T not rated for snow?

Think about whether you want to go through deep snow or if you need grip for icy surfaces. Likely, ice grip for braking and turning. So get winter tires with lots of sipes, or cuts in the tread so that they flex and grip. Good winter tires will also be made of a softer compound to stay flexible...

Opinions on best roof rails and trailer hitch

I'll put my 2 cents in for Thule. Been using for 19 years on our Honda, 7 years on the Liberty. Solid, trouble free for kayaks, canoe, skis, miscellaneous.

After my first trip out in my Liberty...

You're gonna love mudding in your Liberty once you learn a few tricks. For example, when moving in deep mud or deep wet ruts, saw the steering wheel back and forth a bit to get the sides of the tires to bite. Sometimes you really gotta rock it to keep going but it really helps.

which way to go grill guard or bull bar

Not completely useless - the only reason I bought mine was to have something to tie the nose of the canoe to, without rope rubbing on the hood...

which way to go grill guard or bull bar

Check my avatar for photo with bullbar. I've heard both that tow hooks can be in place or they can't but I don't have them. I put it on in summer 2003 and by last year it was so chipped up I took it off, stripped the paint to metal, primed it and repainted it.

    Towing damage?

Just to say that my "thump" went away for about 10,000 km after having the tranny fully serviced and tightened up at 100,000 km. Now at 130,000 km, thump has been back for a while. Yes, it's a low speed thing, notice it accelerating sometimes from 5-10 km, and sometimes when stopping hard.

    Side Window Air Deflectors

Get the Weathertech ones that slide in the channel. No sticky. I never had problems with mine in 6 years in weather down to -35 and never had problems seeing through the dark tint.

Thule Roof Mount and Bag Products

Thule racks are great, been using them for 18 years, got the attachments for the Liberty in 2003, have hauled canoes, kayaks, lumber. Think ahead for what you might carry in the future for how wide the cross bars might be.
