Parking Brake 2002 Liberty

2002 Liberty with drum brakes on rear . Just installed new brake shoes on rear & parking brake lever will only pull up about 3 clicks . Brake shoes didn't appear to be spread at the top as if parking brake cable was too tight when shoes were installed . Wheels turn freely with parking brake released & brake pedal is very good . Other vehicles I've had , the parking brake cable could be loosened or tightened .
Don't seem to have any problem as is but was just wondering if there's a way to loosen the cable so the the parking brake lever would pull up farther ?

There's no reason to need the handle to pull up further than it is, provided the brakes are holding when up and releasing when down.

I removed the center cubby and console on my '05 which has discs. Guessing the lever end is similar. Two adjusting nuts tightened or loosened in a balanced manner. A trammel bar sort of arrangement. Mine was floppy loose new.

You have the rear brakes set just right if the P brake lever clicks only 3 times and holds but the brakes spin free when off.
