yup fishing rod rack! though you might see something similar with the tubes mounted near the marker lights. Many entomologist put butterfly nets in them and cruise the roads to do mosquito counts in some areas.

Waiting on the accessory gang box I ordered to arrive to finish installing the ditch lights and rear work lights. Ordered everything for the third window cabinet conversion…so deep cleaned and fully detailed Bert’s interior. Doesn’t reek of dessert rat anymore!

Looking forward to seeing how the window cabinets turn out! Both sides?

Yep! Both sides! Gonna do the exterior as soon as the rest of the parts arrive next week. The interior is a bit more complex so I’m still planning that part out to do it as inexpensively as possible.

Discovered we currently live in a world where it’s cheaper to buy a complete accessory light harness and chop it to adapt to the gang box circuits than it is to buy more wire and connections and stuff. <maniacal laughter>

Did an AC delete/bypass today. Managed to get the pulley off, but whomever put that snap ring on the magnetic clutch needs a swift kick somewhere tender. Had to rotate it up out of the way anyway.

Hmmm…my hands are really dirty and 2000 watts of something is growing under the interior trim panels and under the seats…
Bert is mysteriously loud now…

Somehow I shoehorned in two 3 way 6x9s in the rear doors, two way 6s in the front doors, and a Skar 10”. It was a clean install, surprisingly. Can’t tell there’s a small system in there(if it’s not on)

Headed out for some field work, gonna play coyote calls and see what happens!

Got my new double-din dash kit installed, with a Sony XAV-AX5000. Having no Bluetooth or AUX on the stock radio was ******, and I can't stand daytime radio hosts.
Oooh! Where about did you get that from? I’ve got aux and usb, but need Bluetooth

or if you don't want to widget hack, GROM is the name of the BT adapter that's plug-and-play for several factory radio variants

Not gonna lie. I seen this on the website and I said *** is that ?? 10 minutes later I seen it for the 2nd time in my life on truck passing by.

Ps. You’re right. I googled fish rod bumper and up came a link to Amazon showing guess what ? A liberty haha
Clearly you folks don't live near the ocean. It gets pretty odd looking when the die hards have their 60 gallon coolers and 20 fishing rods mounted on the front bumper.

Quick question which probably doesn’t deserve its own thread. I want to replace the stock 3157K reverse light bulbs with a much brighter LED alternative. The goal is to be able to see better when backing my camping trailer into a campsite at night. Has anyone had a good experience replacing their back up lights with a particular lighting brand?

Funny you should ask! Mine were not working due to dirty sockets. Then discovered the OE bulbs are garbage- you can't see anything. Replaced mine with these and can now see well or blind tailgaters.... <evil laugh>

Keep in mind you may need to add a load resistor to the circuit when going LED. I did not have to on Bert. Then again Bert is a KJ.

Best I can tell from the OE parts lists, you should be able to use a 3157 T25 unit also.

Today I replaced rear shocks, coil springs and bump stops. Super easy job and well worth the time to do. Rides about an inch higher and no more body roll. Soon the front end will be getting refurbished. Anything that can be changed will be changed. struts, tie rod ends, all ball joints, spindles, both axles etc...

All new disks, brake pads and hardware. The cylinders were in great shape. All new fluids, with the exception of the trans. I did all this the other day.

No rust, the engine runs like new and the interior is super clean. I feel it's worth replacing all wear items to make it like new. (140,000 miles)

wish mine had no rust.
previous owner didn't take good care of it, and I'm dealing with the aftermath.
