Right. I just know that Prestone stuff in the yellow jug that happens to be green isn't HOAT.

Two different categories of coolants.

OAT and HOAT antifreeze is designed for use in aluminum radiators and components.
Some HOAT formulas claim compatibility with certain OAT formulas or IAT formulas.
Organic Acid Technology (OAT) and Hybrid Organic Acid Technology (HOAT). Both may be referred to as “extended life”.

I have no idea what coolant my 3.7 is running is there a way to determine if it is HOAT or not

Like a number of others have mentioned, the way to determine it (and be sure) is to flush it and fill it yourself. I had a flush done at a place I trusted who swore their universal stuff was a HOAT replacement. (I had owned the Jeep for about two weeks and didn't know any better.) A year later I was replacing my water pump - at 58,000 miles.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
You can't buy IAT coolant anymore so anyone claiming the "green stuff" or "regular coolant" is IAT they are wrong.

You either are buying/using OAT or HOAT coolant.

HOAT coolant is compatible with IAT coolant, both are silicate based.Only main difference is IAT coolants must be changed every 1-2 years.

OAT coolants are silicate free.

Depending on the design of the engine(gaskets and such) you either require silicates or not.Chrysler systems require silicates.

Oh and by the way Prestone does not make any HOAT coolant at all,99.9% of there coolants are OAT.

Just got my jeep a week ago and when I i first checked the coolant,I thought it was water. When I went to go buy some coolant (zerex g05) I noticed it was a clear golden color, when finally mixed 50/50 with water, it looks like... water...I went ahead and stuck my finger in the reservoir and did a taste check with the tip of my tongue and it was sweet. Ha, I had never seen a coolant that clear before.

Hate to be the one to break it to you, but you only have one week to live. HOAT stands for "Highly Offensive And Toxic"! :happy175:
