HOAT will generally be orange or yellow. BUT the OAT (Dexcool) can also be orange...and mixing the two is not good because that significantly reduces coolant service life. Personally, if there were any doubt I would do a complete flush and install the HOAT as recommended by DC.

eek=Ya green is not Hoat. You can use Zerex-G05 or Mopar Hoat.

Man... I wish people would stop mixing anti-freeze compounds ... thinking they're all the same.

Not saying that Tog did that... but previous owners and even some shop owners.

Yep...the words "universal" and "compatible" are used way too often.

Just a reminder that coolant color means nothing these days, and hasn't for 15 years.

The color is added per the distributer.

I've seen pink, purple, green(both light and dark),blue, orange, red, yellow, and white coolants and besides white all can be either HOAT or OAT coolant.White is only polypropylene glycol coolant(blue is a common color for this to) which should never be used in any modern cooling system.

I would flush it out yourself cant trust just some libe shoppe to use hoat unless you supply it and watch them pour it in after the flush is complete

Check your local dealers too. Around me they sometimes have some pretty good deals on coolant flushes. You'll get the right stuff too.

I'm totally agreed with tjkj2002 the color on coolant is not too much important to make sure if you have that especially chemical HOAT or OAT.

If you are not sure that your antifreeze have that ingredient HOAT or OAT i recommend to make a full coolant flush. That way you can extend a little bit more the performance of your radiator.

    Regards!

I dont trust stealers i dont want to go in for a recall because i just feel like its going to be a bigger issue than a free part.

Agreed that color means nothing but it can tell you alot. Mine was brown when my radiator got the infamous corner crack. After that i replaced most of the cooling system everything except the heater core and now a year later the coolant looks clean as the day i put it in. Coolant is right next to oil on my regular gas fill up check list. If the levels are changing its going somewhere.

Hmmm...since you're in AU that stuff in your Jeep now just might be the green Penrite. Just to be on the safe side I'd flush it out anyway.

Prestone doesn't make any HOAT coolants, at least I've never seen one. I have a yellow jug of the green prestone for the XJ since that's what it takes. Definitely not HOAT.

That's the problem...I'd get that out of there. Coolant isn't like oil where you can pick about anything and be ok. Don't want to see you ruin something in the KJ since it's all fixed up now.
