Question

if you get an evic that has the sun roof switches and you don't have a sun roof, will it cause problems?

Not unless you try to wire them in somehow. The EVIC module itself unscrews from the console housing. If you don't want the switch, then all you need is a plain housing. Some people have talked about keeping the switch and wiring to some auxiliary stuff.

has anyone tried just running the wires down to the obdII connector, then instead of splicing into the wireing at the connector maybe add a obdII connector to the end of the wireing you ran and only using the 3pins that you need then you just need to tap into 1 line for the ignition on power(for my 02 will be the one cigarte lighter)

and if you don't want to ever unplug it, you could also use and obdII spliter

what does anyone think, will it work or not

Three of the four connections are available at the OBDII. A switched 12V source is also required.

I just like this idea instead of splicing into the data line and I could remove it if I wanted too

even though I would still have to splice the cig lighter line (some reason I just don't care if that has a splice in it, just like when I spiced into my reverse light wire to act as a trigger for my relay in the back uplights, just didn't bother me)

my 02 has 2 cig lighters, one always on, and one comes on with the key

As I recall you would need to tap the switched lighter.

This is my first post and I'd like to say hello and thank you for help with evic/otis installation, error codes I had (gas cup :) ) TPS replacement, radiator and few more.

I went through a lot of posts but I can't find an answer. What I need to customize settings for locks, lights and so on? I know that EVIC is useful :) but I bought OTIS (I needed home link - I know there are EVICs with home link but it was to expensive :) ). Can anyone tell me which OBDII reader/scanner have this option? and doesn't cost a lot :)? Or maybe there's something else I can do to program locks.

PS. KJ 2004 3.7

There are instructions in your user manual for changing these settings :shrug: not sure you need a scanner, but I also don't know what exactly your trying to do.

Thank you for answer :) I want to program the door locks that it's open all doors when you stop the engine (put to P) or open the door. I had it but after I was playing with battery and code erase :) I lost it. Now all locks are locking when I start rolling and only this one you physically open unlocked - rest stay closed. It's annoying when you get out from the car, wanna open glass and it's locked.. you know, open driver door, unlock, close your door, go to the back again :)))

and I have problem with temp on my otis... so far I understand I need evic/otis from the same year as a car or older then a car but not newer, true? this one I bought is from 2005... KJ is early 2004.

Maybe I'm just an idiot, but for the life of me, I can't figure out the pinout of the sunroof controls on my 2007 KJ. Also, the stock controls have LEDs inside that illuminate the buttons, but the ones on the evic housing I picked up do not. Will this cause any problems wiring it up to the new sunroof controls?

The evic I found at a salvage yard is from a 2004 Grand Cherokee, which I know will not display the temperature and is a little weird when doors/rear glass are open. I'm not bothered by it, but if I happen to stumble across more evic units, does anyone have a part number for an evic out of a 2007 Liberty (or at least one that is fully compatible with it)?

Edit: When I used my multimeter on my sunroof controls, there was no continuity between pins, no matter which pins I tried or which button I held. I can provide pics if anyone needs them

As long as you got the original pigtail with the EVIC from the GC you should be able to just plug everything in to your original connectors. If the EVIC doesn't have a sunroof control you can cut out the frame of the EVIC to accept your original sunroof switch. That's what I did with mine. (My donor EVIC came from a 2000 Chrysler Concorde.)

I successfully installed an EVIC in place of the old light. Complications are: I cut the damn hole just a tad too big! Everything appears to work fine. All functions are there and controllable. However, the lights in the EVIC and my rear entry lights are not behaving as before. The rear entry light simply does not go out! No switch position turns them off. The EVIC lights will go out if I use the light switch on the steering column. Any hints for remedy?

Sounds like you tied into the wrong wiring for the dash light.

The pigtail on the EVIC is totally separate from the overhead lighting. I tied into the courtesy light power source under the steering column for the EVIC power. I plugged the old two-light overhead light pigtail into the light on the EVIC. Two separate power sources. Perhaps I need to wire the pigtail that came with the EVIC to my original pigtail?!

For the power required for the EVIC tap into the fuse panel with an add-a-fuse adapter. The courtesy light wiring won't work as the voltage is variable based on whether the doors are open or closed. The add-a-fuse works perfectly.

Yes, use the pigtail that came with the EVIC and create a wire harness long enough to reach from the EVIC down to the OBDII port; wrap the new harness in electrical tape and fish it across the headliner, down the A-pillar and under the dash. Attach the ends of three of the wires to the OBDII port and the fourth Blue/White wire to the add-a-fuse. The overhead light and sunroof wires will attach to your existing wiring. Follow these instructions to the letter to get yours to work properly:

i used a screw connector for the ground wire, and just used the existing ground point inside the driver's kick-panel. the B+ and Switched IGN wires I tapped from the fuse panel, and then ran my PCI wire to the back of the OBD-II port.

This post from 2009 mentions getting both the switched and B+ from the fuse box. Does anyone know where to tap into B+ in the fuse box? I would rather only splice one wire--the PCI--in my OBD port and I like how osufans did it.

EDIT: Or, can't I just splice into the B+ from the existing dome lamp wiring?

Just installed an AE EVIC with TPMS in my '06 Liberty. I've been using non-TPMS modules for years (which are now for sale), patiently biding my time because I'm one of those guys that checks tire pressure regularly. Well, first time I turned on the ignition I watched the EVIC train itself and display the individual tire pressures, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get the PSIs to display at will. Am I missing something or does the PSI only show during training and if there's a problem?

On my 04 there's a "step" button. Hitting it repeatedly will scroll through until it shows the tire pressures. I believe yours should be the same.
