My KJ has been making a terrible grinding noise lately. It's coming front the front passenger wheel area. My cousin, whose a mechanic, took a look at it and said it sounded like the lower ball joint to him. he picked up on the hub with the wheel off and it had slack in it. Does this sound accurate? It doesn't make the sound all the time just sometimes when backing up and turning, and sometimes just cruisin at like 60.

Stop driving it and take it directly to the dealership for the free LBJ's.Or better yet just buy the MOOG K3199's and be done with it.

The 1st set of LBJ's lasted me about 17,000miles,they where still tight but replaced under the 1st recall anyways.9000 miles later the 2nd set had a 1/4" of play so I swapped in the MOOG's.40,000+miles later the MOOG's are still tight(no play) and I just grease them every oil change,2 pumps of Mobil1 synthetic grease.

Any place that sells MOOG chassis parts.I got mine at CarQuest, there about $60-$70 each and are greaseable.

Cool thanx for the info. I'll get these replaced this coming week so I won't have to worry about them. I get the front two windows tinted to match the back half this Tuesday!

Just make sure you get the K3199's and when you get them open both boxes and make sure they both are the greaseable ones.MOOG also makes the OEM LBJ's that have been known to get mixed into the K3199 boxes.

Got it. I wrote down the info so I won't make that mistake.

Check the RECALLS on those joints to, a lot of them have a recall on the ball-joints. Not the tie-rod ends, the lower ones. Mitsubishi had the same problem...
MOOG K3199's have no recall,it's the MOOG OEM style LBJ's that have been recalled. The K3199's are much beefier and can be greased which was the main downfall of the OEM ones.

so my stock LBJ's have a recall on them? I can just take it down to my local dealership and they'll replace them?
