Hi KK brotherhood.

Frustrating issue. Not major. But can’t figure it out. So that said this is a venting post. If you have advice feel free to share, and I haven’t seen a “magic fix” on the blogs.

So, when i close the hood it easily latches at the first click. But it will not latch fully down.

Ive bottomed out the bushings, adjusted and changed the latch, AND the cable (OEM Jeep).

My work around is to push the silver piece (pointing to it) to the passenger side. It clicks in place and then hood latches fully.

It isnt the latch because it happens with the oem original and aftermarket replacements.

I think it may be due to the hood not triggering (?) the latch into the right place. I’ve adjusted the latch - up, down, up and down. Stll no difference

Thank you all for letting me vent! Safe travels.

I have a 2010 that will do this unless I push the release lever under the dash forward (back towards the latch position) because it sticks open. My guess was that the spring that is supposed to pull the cable back after opening was shot, but I honestly haven't spent any time trying to diagnose it, I just remember to push the release lever forward to reset it. YMMV.

Sound like it could be a sticky release cable inside the housing. If the latch and hood release handle itself is good, replace hood release cable.
