so despite the disappointment of a truck the kid and I went to look at, I can confirm that the jeep will pull the 2200# trailer with all the associated recovery gear on it, at 80mph without issue. and more importantly, the trailer doesn't shake any longer.

Today I drove the Jeep 450 miles to Vermont.

It has developed quite a prominent driveline vibration when coasting, particularly between 30 and 40 mph. It feels like hitting a rumble strip. When the Jeep is under power the vibration goes away. It feels like it may be something to do with the front drive shaft. I can remove that and see if it goes away. I recently redid the rear CV on the front drive shaft (maybe 2000 miles ago) so maybe the part is defective or I screwed up the install somehow. Any ideas?

Check everything for tightness. Get the wheels off the ground and check everything.

Mine has a driveline vibration (mainly)after being on the highway for a hour plus, but mainly in 4H and full time. Light throttle when cruising. I haven't put the the effort into determining what it is. I think i might be lazy and hook up the pico scope (Mopar scope) next time and and run the NVH and let it do the thinking for me

Installed Roadmaster base plates so I can drag it behind the motorhome. I thought it would take about 2-3 hours; it took 5. I've done this to 3 other cars, and this was the most difficult. Unexpected fasteners to remove and odd sized nuts and bolts, like 18mm and 21mm. I don't think I've ever used an 18mm and I don't own a 21. Had to use whatever SAE was close. Job was a PITA but it's done and turned out pretty good, if I say so myself.

I think I have the answer to why my Jeep seems to have a driveline vibration when coasting. The boot on the drivers side CV axle is toast and it has let out all the grease. This might be the reason, or perhaps something else is going on too. But likely the CV is toast anyway and needs to be replaced. It is original and only has 235,000 miles on it. LOL

I think I will pick up a low mileage (106k) replacement at a nearby junkyard on Monday. I’d rather buy used OEM than aftermarket.

depending on how long you were driving with that bad axle, don't be surprised if you need to replace the hub as well.
