Hey all,

Looking at a 15x7 Cragar Soft 8 (5x4.5 pattern, 4" BS) for my stock Liberty. I have some Pro Comp Series 98 16x7's on the way...but they are back ordered for about 2 months...

I should be able to fit say a 235/75/15 tire with the 15x7 Cragar's...

Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks!

I'm keen to fit the same kind of set up

Everything I've read on here says 15x7 with 4" BS should work fine...

235/75/15 are marginally smaller than stock, so I doubt there's be any rubbing.

That's what I was thinking too...but the guy at my Jeep dealership (who seems to know his stuff) says it will rub...

15 or 16 X 7 with 4 inches of backspacing works great on a lifted
but for unlifted/sagged suspension you're looking at some rubbing
If you can find a wheel with next to stock specs you'll be better off

What kind of tires do you want to run?
There are some really good tires in the 245-65-17 size that'll fit your 17 inch wheels.
Goodyear Silent Armour
Falken High Country A-T, WildPeak A-T
Toyo Open Country A-T
Nitto Dura Grappler, Terra Grappler
Yokohama Geolandar A-T-S
Firestone Destination A-T
Those are just a few that come to mind.

I'm putting on BFG AT KO's in a LT235/70R/16/C

I want 6-ply. There are options for the 17's yes but mostly passenger rated tires. I do a fair amount of travel on FSR's and I'm thinking I'd chew a set of P rated tires pretty quick.

Not to mention that I (personally) hate those chrome clad wheels...

Really looking forward to the new wheels/tires. The wheels should be here in couple weeks. Should make my Jeep look more like...a Jeep

Have to start up my member's journal and get some pics up.

My dealership is bringing me in a set of Pro Comp Series 98's in 16x7 5x4.5 bolt pattern, 4" BS.

They look pretty much identical to Cragar Soft 8's.

Mount one on the front first before buying, turn the wheels and see how much room you have. 4 inch is sitting the tire and wheel out a lot more than stock and you may have quite a bit of rubbing

As part of the deal for my Liberty the Jeep dealership is absorbing the cost of my new wheels and tires. The wheel/tire combo was suggested by them after I gave them an idea of what I was looking for as in size/style...I will certainly make sure the fit is fine before I drive off

According to this site:

Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com

Going from the stock 235/65/17 on 17x7.5 4.5" BS to 235/70/16 on 16x7 4" BS will almost be a perfect match - they will stick out about 0.2" more than the stock 17's. That is if I have the correct BS on the stock 17's...tough to find info on them...

Yep you are correct. Turns out the backspace of the 17's is around 5.8" (38-40mm offset).

In my case if the dealership claims they can put a wheel with 4" backspace (0 offset) even with a 215 tire there will be an inch of tire sticking out from wheelwell...and some serious rubbing...

Have to see what those guys over there have been smoking...

Anyone want to trade their stock 16's for 17 chrome? :icon_lol:
