Yeah, deer are everywhere up here too. I have hit 2 of them but none with the jeep. Whats worse is we have moose too. How would you like to hit an 800lb moose? They are putting warning signs up in places. I havn't seen one on the roads yet but we had one LOST in the next town over.......I almost hit a black angus bull on the road one night when they broke through the fence.

My Son's GF had a deer run into the side of her mazda3 and did $3,000 in damage.

You really gotta pay attention especially at night. I saw at least a dozen of them coming back from the last jeep run.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
Growing up in the middle of deer country nothing ever worked for avoiding deer, those whistles just attract them(at least back home they did). The best thing that somewhat worked is HID long range lights,at least they stop them far enough out that you can avoid them,oh and a big a$$ steel bumper always helps:D.

How serious is the deer problem in PA?

Hi,

I noticed you were from PA. I plan to spend a week with my KJ in the Laurel Highlands of PA and Monongahela forest areas of WV next May. What time of day did you have the deer encounter? How serious overall is the deer problem for driving in the rural areas of PA and WV?

Thanks.

In the early 1960's, my cousin and I would hunt on my uncle's farm (80 acres) and in 3-4 years we never saw anything but squirrels, and a few rabbits and partridges. Now that we don't hunt, there are deer, turkey, geese, coyotes, etc everywhere here in CT. I read something that said there is more wildlife in CT now, then there was in the 1800's.
