im new here but i just bought an 02 liberty and finally had a chance to clean it and noticed my rims are severly flaking and peeling (wtf). I have saw a few online articles about this and it seems that the manufacture dosen't want to clean this up? Any ideas?

Very possible. Road salt in the wintertime is brutal here... protest.gif

I know of a few people who have opted to sand the rims and repaint them black. They've had decent results.

Well being that you bought it used and it is 8 years old you will not have any type of factory warranty.Besides the factory corrosion warranty only covers sheet metal that is painted and not alloy rims anyways.

You can have a bodyshop re-clear them, fast and easy to do after you get the tires dismounted from them.Shouldn't be that pricey either.

Funny I had this same issue! Haven't really had time to worry about it but when I do I will most certainly be coming back to see development! BTW my 02 has also been near Lake Michigan for 8 years, so it really might be the winter weather and salt that is making them flake.

Yup, aluminum wheels do that.

Too bad you didn't get the genuine Dalmation Edition wheels though:D
