Hi All - this is a small thing but a pain in the .... For some reason, it is at times such a struggle to get the oil filler cap off. My Jeep is a V6.

Is this a usual problem,?? It just won't move except with extreme pressure - son helps out and even he finds it hard??

Any ideas??

Regards

Ray

I have the same issue as well.
I usually clean it and apply some oil around the edge when I remove the cap.

I have the same problem, my solution is I put a rag over the cap and use channellock pliers.

Once the cap is off, I Clean the threads with alcohol.
Then use white lithium grease or Vaseline to the threads. Will come of so easy next time.

I cover the cap with a rag and twist it off with channellock pliers, and then use the rag to wipe the threads clean. Then with my finger, I grease the threads with clean motor oil before I twist the oil cap back on each time.

My cap comes off by hand no problem. What a racket! Have a poor design that can make something hard to remove by hand, then someone else can develop a tool to remove a cap that should only be slightly snug. Next I spose they'll be coming out with a special tool to assist you in lowering the sun visor.
